v2.14.2

  • Colour legend is now a column in the bottom-right corner, one state per row
  • Settings → Window: the "Size and place" buttons come first, above the switches
  • OpenCode: a pending question or plan approval (question, plan_exit) keeps the agent red "waiting for you" until you answer, instead of going idle after 8 s (also for Codex/Gemini); Claude Code's ExitPlanMode counts as waiting too

2.14.1 – Shop and settings fit inside the window

Shop and settings fit inside the window

The desktop window no longer grows when you open the shop, the settings or the first-run setup – it stays where and how big you put it. In a small window everything is denser and scrolls: the shop is a narrower panel on the left with smaller thumbnails and the office (with the hover preview) next to it, the settings panel fills the window with smaller text.

The macOS .dmg and the Linux .AppImage appear on this page a few minutes after the release.

2.14.0 – QR code for the phone, lounge lamp switch

Scan to open on your phone

Settings → Privacy → Phone view now shows a QR code next to the address and PIN – point your phone camera at it and the office opens. The code is drawn by the app itself, no library and nothing sent anywhere.

A switch for the lounge lamp

A second switch plate under the light switch by the door turns the lamp by the sofa and the neon sign on and off – for evenings when the lounge should be dark. Also in Settings → Look.

The macOS .dmg and the Linux .AppImage appear on this page a few minutes after the release.

2.13.1 – Phone view in portrait, Homebrew

Phone view, better in portrait

On a phone held upright the office used to be tiny in a sea of floor. Now it takes only the height it needs – big enough to read – and your sessions are listed under it: name, state colour, current tool and how long. Landscape is unchanged.

macOS: Homebrew

brew install --cask rezored/tap/cubicle-crew

Opens without the extra security steps (the cask removes the quarantine flag). Needs macOS 13 Ventura or later.

2.13.0 – Phone view, hot desks

Watch the office from your phone

Settings → Privacy → Phone view shows an address and a 6-digit PIN – open it on a phone on the same Wi-Fi.

  • Off by default. Turning it on opens a port on your local network (4327, or the next free one if another app uses it); Windows may ask about the firewall once.
  • View only, and less to see: the server itself never sends commands, file paths, task or session names, or permission prompts to the phone. Nothing can be bought, changed or answered from it.
  • Five wrong PINs lock an address for a minute; New PIN signs every phone out. Details in docs/security.md.

Hot desks for a third session

When three or more sessions work at once, the third one no longer works on a laptop on the sofa – it takes a free sub-agent desk with its own mug colour. When a lead desk frees up and a sub-agent needs a desk, it moves over. With one or two sessions nothing changes.

The macOS .dmg and the Linux .AppImage appear on this page a few minutes after the release.

2.12.1

Fixes

  • Pets walking in place – after the shop was opened or the window resized, a cat or dog could get stuck at the edge of the lounge, stepping on the spot forever. They now stop and sit there instead.
  • Waiting text – the empty office and the morning window now say "Waiting for the first agent…" for any agent, not just Claude Code, and the morning text uses the full width of the small window.

The macOS .dmg and the Linux .AppImage appear on this page a few minutes after the release.

2.12.0 – Roomier shop, contributor pets

A roomier shop

The shop is now a tall panel on the left. The office moves to the right of it, so whatever you hover is previewed in the whole room, the item pictures are bigger, and the stats fit without scrolling. In a narrow window it stays a strip at the bottom. In the desktop app the window grows a little wider while the shop is open, so the office stays sharp.

Contributor pets

Anyone who contributes to Cubicle Crew can get an office pet of their own design – free in Shop → Pets → Contributor pets, with its own name and "by @username" in the shop and when you hover it in the office. You can still give it a nickname.

The first one is Bueno by @buensoft. How to get yours: CONTRIBUTING.md.

The macOS .dmg and the Linux .AppImage appear on this page a few minutes after the release.

2.11.0 – Bueno

@rezored rezored released this 19 Oct 12:24

Meet Bueno 🐾

A new dog breed by @buensoft: a tricolour, heavily ticked mix – white with a black rump and shoulders, a black head with a tan cheek, freckles, one ear up and one folded, and a plume tail curled over the back. A bit bigger than the other dogs.

  • New offices that start with a dog (or anyone who unlocks the dog) now get Bueno. The beagle is still free – switch any time in Shop → Pets.
  • Already have a beagle? Nothing changes – your dog and its name stay. You'll see a one-time note that Bueno is free in the shop.

Fixes

  • Port 4317 taken (e.g. by the OpenTelemetry Collector on macOS): the server now falls back to 4318–4320 instead of a random port, so page settings survive restarts, and it says which port it used.
  • npx cubicle-crew event skips a foreign server on 4317–4320 instead of failing on its 404.
  • The screenshot test script finds Chrome on macOS and Linux.

Thanks to @buensoft for the dog and both fixes.

The macOS .dmg and the Linux .AppImage appear on this page a few minutes after the release.

2.10.0 – Any agent can walk into the office

Any agent can walk into the office

Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and OpenCode are read directly from their files. Now anything else can come in too, through one local endpoint – POST http://127.0.0.1:4317/api/event (only from this computer):

  • GitHub Copilot CLI – its HTTP hooks post straight to the office; a ready config is in docs/api.md.
  • Cursor – its hooks forward to the office with one curl command per hook (config in the same doc).
  • Any agent with Claude-Code-style hooks, or your own scripts: a tiny JSON format, or npx cubicle-crew event tool_start --agent build --tool Bash --detail "npm test".

They get a desk and a ★ label like landing · Cursor, show the current tool in the bubble (risky commands in red), turn red with a notification when they wait for you, and walk out when they end. Hooks always get an empty answer – the office never allows or denies anything for them.

The Copilot CLI and Cursor configs follow their official hook docs but haven't been tried with the real tools yet – if something doesn't show up, please open an issue.

Also: Settings → Help links to the API docs, and npx cubicle-crew is on npm.

The macOS .dmg and the Linux .AppImage appear on this page a few minutes after the release.

2.9.0 – Settings inside the window

Settings inside the window

All settings now live in one panel inside the window instead of the tray's context menu – six sections (Look, Alerts, Privacy & data, Window, Share, Help), each with its own colour and pixel icon, pixel switches and a one-line explanation for every option. Help has the colour legend, risky commands, all keyboard keys and the feedback links; Window has Reset size, Move back above the tray and Open in browser.

  • Open it with the ⚙ on the title bar, the ? button or key, or Settings and help… in the tray.
  • The tray menu is short now: show/hide, shop, stats, weather, the thin strip, click-through and quit.

Run it with one command

The browser version is now one command away (Node.js 18+), no install – coming to npm shortly:

npx cubicle-crew
