pdf-next v0.14.0
Review the PDF, then let your agent edit and recompile the LaTeX source.
- Select Delete selection or Improve. The adjacent review JSON keeps the action separate from the instruction.
- Identify large review lists with 16 colors and stable review IDs. Filter by action and status.
- Track requests from open to applied to resolved. Applied PDF requests require a successful build; verify the rendered result before resolving them.
- Keep drafts and the last valid review panel while an agent rewrites, replaces or temporarily removes the JSON. Conflicting changes stay available for explicit recovery.
- Preserve agent metadata and original excerpts when saving. Review writes use transaction locks, atomic replacement and backups; older review files migrate with a backup.
- Use
pdf-next reviews listandpdf-next reviews updatefor agent updates with revision checks and a dry-run option. - Add optional SyncTeX source hints when a matching build map and local executable are available. Hints remain unverified; reviewing does not require SyncTeX.
- Fix false comment-save conflicts caused by whitespace and incorrect matching of overlapping repeated text.
Validated on Windows, macOS and Linux. Windows checks include exclusive PDF writes while the viewer remains open, partial compiler writes, replacement and delete/recreate cycles. Dense review checks cover 32 records and all 16 colors.
Download the installer for your system below:
- Windows:
.exeinstaller or.msi. If an unsigned installer triggers SmartScreen, select More info → Run anyway. - macOS: universal
.dmgfor Intel and Apple Silicon, orbrew install --cask ricardofrantz/tap/pdf-nextafter the tap updates. The unsigned app requiresxattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/pdf-next.appon first launch. - Linux:
.AppImage,.debor.rpm.
WinGet availability follows Microsoft's separate submission review.
pdf-next v0.13.2
PDF rendering update for high-density displays.
- Update Mozilla PDF.js to 6.3.289, including its worker, viewer, image decoders, color profiles, and fonts.
- Enable optimized partial rendering to skip off-screen drawing operations during detail redraws.
- Fix detail-canvas alignment when CSS rounds page dimensions at high zoom and display density.
- Prevent canceled renders from caching incomplete drawing bounds that could omit content on subsequent redraws.
- Add native scrolling checks at 1x, 2x, and 3x density, plus JBIG2 and JPEG2000 decoder fixtures. PDF source files remain writable, replaceable, and removable while displayed.
The dense PDF regression fixture showed 33–44% lower mean detail-render time on Linux WebKitGTK. This is a local benchmark; physical BenQ 4K/120 Hz testing on Windows is still needed.
Download the build for your system below.
- Windows:
.exeinstaller or.msi. The initial WinGet package submission is still awaiting review; this release is available from the assets below. For an unsigned build, SmartScreen may require More info → Run anyway. - macOS: universal
.dmgfor Intel and Apple Silicon. For the unsigned app, runxattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/pdf-next.appafter installation. - Debian/Ubuntu:
.debor.AppImage. APT publication depends on the repository signing configuration.
pdf-next v0.13.1
Fixes
- Refresh PDF canvases when the window moves between displays with different scaling.
- Release PDF resources when switching to an image and ignore obsolete document responses.
- Preserve unsaved review notes on reload and pending edits when deletion is canceled or fails.
- Prevent an older close operation from clearing a newly opened document.
- Save reviews atomically, keep deleted legacy reviews from reappearing, and restrict edits to the requested document.
- Reject overflowing review IDs and bound imported review ranges to the document's page count.
- Reduce PDFs without blocking the interface or overwriting an existing reduced copy.
- Prevent an obsolete prepared PDF from opening the print dialog.
- Run frontend and Rust regression checks before publishing installers.
- Check that displayed PDFs remain writable, replaceable, and removable in the running viewer.
The reported BenQ/Windows blur still needs verification on the affected display.
This release fixes display-density changes; it does not claim that every cause of blurred text is resolved.
