Ciderlight 0.1.17
- Clear shallow water shows what's on the bottom more clearly: the mirrored shore no longer lies over coral and sand as a second, equally sharp picture. Reflections of the banks near the waterline are unchanged.
- Reflections of trees no longer show dark vertical streaks under their leaves.
Ciderlight 0.1.16
- New Water Waves setting on the Ciderlight Settings page. Turn it off for still water on lakes, the sea and waterfalls; rain still ripples it. Applies after you restart the game.
- On calm water, the sun's glint is now a soft patch instead of one hard, bright spot.
- Water reflections under overhangs no longer break into bands and wedges of sky.
- Reflections of cliffs no longer break into diagonal stripes, and reflected trees no longer show black specks that move as the leaves wave.
- Shadow edges are steadier: less shimmer everywhere, and none on the ground seen through water or glass. Shadows of moving things may trail a little longer.
Ciderlight 0.1.15
- New Ciderlight Settings page: in Options > Video Settings, click Ciderlight... under the graphics preset. The Shaders choice (Off, Low, High) has moved there.
- You can turn Shadows, Waving Plants, Water Reflections and Ambient Occlusion off one by one, and set the Render Scale (Auto, or 50 to 100%). Shadows off saves the most: about 45% more frames on an M4 Pro.
- Shadows and Ambient Occlusion change straight away. The other settings apply after you restart the game.
- A setting fixed by a
-Dciderlight.*JVM argument is greyed out, since the argument wins.
Thanks to @ByteV0rtex for the settings page (#2).
Ciderlight 0.1.14
- Ciderlight now also runs on NeoForge, as a beta (NeoForge for Minecraft 26.3 is itself still a beta). Use the file with "neoforge" in its name in a NeoForge 26.3 instance. Optionally add
--enable-native-access=ciderlightto the JVM arguments to silence a Java warning, and keep NeoForge's update check on: with it off, NeoForge 26.3's title screen crashes. - On NeoForge, mods that draw with NeoForge's stencil support may look wrong: Ciderlight doesn't apply it yet.
- Nothing changes for Fabric players.
Ciderlight 0.1.13
- Cloud shadows no longer pop in as you walk under a cloud. Every cloud now shades the ground the same, near or far, so the ground under a cloud is already dark before you reach it.
- When your graphics card is what limits your frame rate, the game now reads your mouse and keyboard later in each frame, so what you see is closer to what you just did. Launch with
-Dciderlight.jitInput=falseto turn this off.
Ciderlight 0.1.12
- Macs with a plain M2, M3 or M4 chip now start on Low shader quality, like the plain M1. If you already picked Low or High in Video Settings, your choice is kept, and you can switch to High there at any time.
- Distant water seen past the leaves of a nearby tree no longer shows streaks in its reflection.
Ciderlight 0.1.10
- Falling sand and gravel, and blocks pushed by pistons, keep their lighting while they move. Before, they went nearly black next to torches and cast no shadow.
