Choose a tag to compare

@richardltc richardltc released this 18 Oct 17:33

PECcoin 0.4.5: PEC Wallet, pecd, pec-cli and pec-miner (source commit 4a0a23a).

The easiest start: download PEC Wallet for your system (pec-gui-x86_64-windows.zip, pec-gui-x86_64-linux.zip, pec-gui-aarch64-linux.zip or pec-gui-aarch64-macos.zip for an Apple-silicon Mac), unzip it and start the wallet; it runs the node for you. Or download pecd (the node) and pec-cli (commands for a running node) for your system (and pec-miner to mine through a node from other computers; on a Mac, see the README for the first start), put them in a folder of their own and run pecd; see the README. Running nodes update themselves to this version automatically.

PECcoin 0.4.3

@richardltc richardltc released this 16 Oct 18:34

0.4.3

For people running a block explorer or reading the chain over RPC. Nothing changes for miners, stakers or wallets, and there is no reset.

  • Explorer interface. Bitcoin Core-compatible commands, plus a separate read-only explorer port with its own password (off by default, [explorer] in pecd.toml). The explorer port does not offer listallnames or getname.
  • New: getstakingstats [blocks]. Mined and staked blocks over the last blocks (default 720): counts, share, average spacing, the next targets and rewards. Also on the explorer port.
  • New explorer developer guide with sample answers from the testnet.

PECcoin 0.4.0

Choose a tag to compare

@richardltc richardltc released this 13 Oct 08:49

PECcoin 0.4.0: the second testnet. PEC Wallet, pecd, pec-cli and pec-miner.

This is a testnet reset. The chain starts again from a new first block ("PEC testnet 2", 2026-10-13) with a new network magic, so old and new nodes cannot connect. On first start pecd moves your old chain aside (to old-chain-<time>/, never deleted) and begins the new one. You need your 24 recovery words: the old wallet file is refused on the new network (pecd says "WrongNetwork" and leaves the file untouched), so restore it with pec-cli restorewallet (or the wallet's restore screen) and you get the same addresses. Coins, names and history start again from zero; testnet coins have no value.

What changed:

  • Mining and staking now run side by side. Staking starts at block 1,000; there is no voting phase. Each kind aims at one block per 120 s with its own difficulty. Miners' share of new coin slides from 70% to 30% over six months.
  • Fork choice favours the chain with more staked trust; reorganisations of 1,000 blocks or more are refused.
  • Checkpoints and the pec-cli invalidateblock / reconsiderblock recovery commands.
  • Treasury share: 1% (output not made yet on the testnet).

Download PEC Wallet for your system (pec-gui-x86_64-windows.zip, pec-gui-x86_64-linux.zip or pec-gui-aarch64-linux.zip), unzip it and start it; it runs the node for you. Or download pecd and pec-cli (and pec-miner to mine through a node from other computers). Running nodes update themselves to this version automatically.
