You need your own copy of the game: Atlantis Native contains no game
data. Play in your browser at https://ripleyxlr8.github.io/atlantis-native/
or https://ripleyxlr8.itch.io/atlantis-native.
New in 0.3.2
- Arrow keys turn (← →) and tilt (↑ ↓) the panoramic view, as the
original's F5 to F8 do. - F switches full screen on and off, as F11 and Alt+Enter do (not while
typing a player's name). - Web version: the keys are listed beside the game's frame when the
page is wide enough.

Atlantis Native 0.3.1
Atlantis Native 0.3.1: smoother widescreen, and now on itch.io.
You need your own copy of the game: Atlantis Native contains no game
data. Play in your browser at https://ripleyxlr8.github.io/atlantis-native/
or https://ripleyxlr8.itch.io/atlantis-native.
New in 0.3.1
- Widescreen moves: in the Zoom mode a move's video now zooms in
from the panorama and back out to the destination's, the whole picture
as one (the sides rendered at the video's own angles, so that they
continue it); no more jump when the video ends. - Widescreen dialogs: a character cut by the screen's edge in the
original is moved to the edge of the wide picture, with its 3D head,
instead of showing the cut in the middle of the screen. - Very wide screens: a video's sides stop where the panorama's do
(2.4:1), black beyond. - Web version: the start page in the manner of the game's own start
screen, on a blue parchment, with the version; the game framed on the
same parchment, filling the page (and wide with widescreen); the
graphics card now also composes the HD picture (the browser's work per
frame about halved again); no black flash before a move's video. - itch.io: the releases are now also published on
https://ripleyxlr8.itch.io/atlantis-native.

Atlantis Native 0.3.0
Atlantis Native 0.3.0: full screen everywhere, and the game in your
browser, now drawn by the graphics card and online at
https://ripleyxlr8.github.io/atlantis-native/.
You need your own copy of the game: Atlantis Native contains no game
data.
New in 0.3.0
- Play in your browser: the web version is online at
https://ripleyxlr8.github.io/atlantis-native/ (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or
Safari). Choose your game folder: its files are read inside your
browser and never sent anywhere; the saves stay in that browser. - Full screen: F11 or Alt+Enter switches full screen on and off, on
Windows, macOS, Linux and in the browser (which also has a "Full
screen" button). - A much lighter web version: the frames go to the graphics card
through WebGL 2, and the HD panorama is drawn there with the engine's
own formulas, pixel for pixel the same picture. The browser's work per
frame is about halved, and full screen no longer slows it down. - A new web page in the game's spirit to start from.
- Screenshots in the README.
The game itself plays as in 0.2.0, with the same supported editions:
the English 2001 CD, the 1997 CDs (English, French, German, Dutch,
Swedish, Spanish, Italian), Cryo's patch 1.01 over them, and the five
GOG.com releases.

Atlantis Native 0.2.0
Atlantis Native 0.2.0: every retail edition of the game we could find,
a game library, and playing straight from your CD images.
You need your own copy of the game: Atlantis Native contains no game
data.
Supported editions
| Release | Languages |
|---|---|
| CD, 2001 build | English |
| CD, 1997 builds | English (May), French (May and August), German, Dutch, Swedish, Spanish, Italian |
| CD with Cryo's patch 1.01 | over the English, French, German, Dutch, Swedish, Spanish or Italian CD |
| GOG.com | English, French, German, Spanish, Italian |
Each edition plays with its own rules, as its original executable does
(reverse engineered and checked against it), and keeps its own saves.
New in 0.2.0
- Finding your game: on the first start Atlantis Native looks for the
game on your computer (GOG.com and the usual folders) and offers it; it
explains why it needs the game's files and, when a folder is refused,
says exactly what is missing (a disc, atlantis.exe, an installer not
run yet...). - CD images: play straight from images of the four CDs (.iso, .bin/.cue,
.img, .mdf, .nrg), without extracting anything; or let Atlantis Native
copy the game from your discs, one after the other. - Game library: several editions, chosen at start-up (or hold Shift),
or switched from the F10 menu ("Game library..."). - New editions: the 1997 builds of the French, German, Dutch, Swedish,
Spanish and Italian CDs, the English and French May 1997 builds, and
Cryo's patch 1.01 (see the table). - Unknown edition? One click opens a pre-filled report on GitHub with
the files' identifiers (no personal data). - Widescreen: no black flash at the start and end of a move.
- Fixes of the original's bugs (on by default, F10 to turn off): among
others the German "ß" of the chapter list drawn as "ss", the Italian
menus' click zones covering the whole word. - Our own icon for the program file and the macOS app; the macOS Dock
shows your game's icon while you play. - A support screen now and then (at most once a week, never in your first
hours, can be turned off for good), and "Buy me a coffee..." in F10.

Atlantis Native 0.1.0
The first numbered release of Atlantis Native, a native port of
Atlantis: The Lost Tales (Cryo Interactive, 1997), written in Rust.
The whole game is playable, from the Cryo logo to the end credits:
panoramas, cinematics, dialogs with 3D talking heads in time with the
voices, the inventory, the characters who follow you, the menus,
checkpoints, game overs and all seventeen puzzles.
You need your own copy of the game: Atlantis Native contains no game
data.
Supported releases
| Release | Languages |
|---|---|
| English CD, 2001 build | English |
| English retail CD, 1997 build | English (its own 8x8 subtitle font) |
| GOG.com | English, French, German, Spanish, Italian |

| Web (a static site to serve over HTTP) | atlantis-native-web.zip |
The builds are not signed yet: Windows SmartScreen may warn the first
time ("More info", then "Run anyway"). On macOS, open the app once, then
go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click "Open Anyway" (or
run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Atlantis Native.app"
in the Terminal).
Highlights
- Faithful: the scripts, dialogs, music, 3D heads and puzzles run the
original's own logic; the heads are drawn with the original's
arithmetic, pixel for pixel. - Options menu (F10): original or HD graphics, HD picture options,
widescreen, and the enhancements, changed while you play. - HD mode: the panoramas and talking heads rendered at the window's
resolution, sharp subtitles, interface art upscaled with xBR. - Widescreen: the panorama fills a wide window; beside the videos,
black bars, blurred edges, a zoom, or (for the moves) the panoramas of
the places left and reached. - Fixes of the original's bugs (on by default, one switch turns them
off): seamless music loops, talking-head overlays and mouths drawn
correctly, the snakes puzzle's first-run win, and more. - Saves: the original's own checkpoint files; an existing
installation's players and checkpoints are taken over.
