A one-fix release for Macs with Apple Silicon.
macOS: "The local engine did not start within 60 seconds" (#10)
Version 1.2.1 fixed the "damaged" error, but the way it signed the app also switched on a strict macOS security mode for the built-in engine. That mode refuses to load the engine's own Python library, so on Apple Silicon the window opened and then stayed on "Starting NextGenUp..." forever. Version 1.2.2 signs the app without that mode. The whole app is still signed, so you will not see "damaged" again, and the first launch still asks for the normal one-time approval in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway.
Thanks to @jfolger for the report and for testing, and sorry for the trouble. Intel Macs, Windows, and Linux were not affected.
Stuck on 1.2.1? Run this once in Terminal, then open the app again:
codesign --force --deep --sign - /Applications/NextGenUp.appThe app should also offer the 1.2.2 update on next launch.
