Release list
TigerMarkView 0.12.1
Highlights
TigerMarkView 0.12.1 keeps less about what you read, lets you decide whether
documents may load web images, and makes several open windows work together.
It is the first release since 0.10.0: 0.11.0, 0.11.1 and 0.12.0 were prepared
but never published, and everything they contained is here.
- Remote images are now a setting. View > Rendering > Load Remote Images
is on by default, so documents show web images exactly as before. Turn it off
and neither the viewer nor PDF export sends any request for anhttp://or
https://image; local images and images embedded in the document still
show. The setting is remembered and applies at once to every TigerMarkView
window, including windows that were already open. - No browsing history on disk. The WebView2 engine that shows documents and
exports PDFs now runs InPrivate, so viewing a document no longer leaves a
history of file names and times in the browser engine's folder. The history
earlier versions kept there is deleted the first time 0.12.1 starts. - No sign-in to proxy servers. Web images are fetched without offering your
Windows account to anyone — the image's server or a proxy server. Behind a
proxy that requires signing in, web images do not load. - Links do not open network shares. Clicking a link to a Markdown file on a
network share or mapped network drive no longer opens it, because Windows
would sign in to that computer with your account; the status bar says why.
Opening a document on a share yourself, with File > Open, from Open
Recent, or by dropping it on the window's bars or an empty window, works as
before. - Several windows, one set of settings. Each window now saves only the
setting you change in it. Clearing Open Recent in one window keeps it cleared
when another window later changes its theme, editor or anything else; recent
files opened in different windows are all kept; and each window has its own
rendered page, so two windows reloading at once no longer interfere. - Clear Recent Files. File > Open Recent > Clear Recent Files empties
the Open Recent list at once and saves the empty list. Your documents and your
other settings are not touched, and the session's navigation history is kept. - Uninstalling removes TigerMarkView's local data. An explicit uninstall
— from Settings > Apps, the uninstaller, orwinget uninstall— removes
%LocalAppData%\TigerMarkView(settings, the Open Recent list, browser engine
data) and%TEMP%\TigerMarkView(generated pages) for the Windows account
that runs it. Your Markdown documents and exported PDFs are never touched. - A privacy statement for each version. It describes what TigerMarkView
stores, how to clear it, what uninstalling removes, and every network request:
web images in documents and how to turn them off, documents you open from a
network share, and the installer's download of a missing Microsoft runtime.
This release publishes it as itsPRIVACY.mdasset, which never changes, and
installs the identical file in the Docs folder.
Upgrading
- Upgrading keeps your settings and your Open Recent list: installing 0.12.1
over 0.10.0,winget upgrade, and the first install over an Inno Setup
installation of 0.9.0 or earlier all preserve them. Only an explicit
uninstall removes them. Remote images stay on unless you turn them off. - TigerMarkView 0.10.0 and earlier left this data behind when uninstalled. If
you uninstalled one of those versions, you can delete
%LocalAppData%\TigerMarkViewand%TEMP%\TigerMarkViewyourself.
Packaging and WinGet
- The installer is built with TigerSetup 0.14.0. Installation, the PATH option,
Open with registration for.mdand.markdown, and runtime installation
behave as in 0.10.0. - The WinGet manifests name this release's
PRIVACY.mdasset as the package's
PrivacyUrl. - Beside the installer, the release publishes
TigerMarkView-0.12.1-WinGet.zip,
the exact WinGet manifests submitted for this version, andPRIVACY.md.
SHA256SUMS.txtandrelease-artifacts.jsonrecord the hashes of all three.
Prerequisites and known limitations
- Windows 10 version 1809 or later, or Windows 11, x64.
- .NET Desktop Runtime 10 and the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime. They are not
bundled; the installer checks for both and installs a missing one from the
download the WinGet catalog lists for it. - This build is unsigned. Windows SmartScreen may warn on first run; the
publishedSHA256SUMS.txtlets you confirm the download. tiger-markhas no settings and always loads the web images of the document
it converts.- A window picks up another window's theme, editor or other preference the
next time it starts; Open Recent and Load Remote Images are shared at once. - Uninstalling an all-users installation removes the data of the account that
runs the uninstall. Other accounts keep their own folders.
Install
- Download and run
TigerMarkView-0.12.1-win-x64-setup.exefrom the assets
below. Per-user installation is the default and needs no elevation. winget install ItTiger.TigerMarkViewonce the package is accepted in the
WinGet community repository.
Privacy
TigerMarkView keeps its settings and the Open Recent list on your computer and
sends them nowhere. What it stores, how to clear it, what uninstalling removes,
and when it makes network requests are described in the
privacy statement for this release.
TigerMarkView 0.10.0
Highlights
TigerMarkView 0.10.0 moves to a new installer and makes the application easier
to reach from Explorer. The viewer, PDF export, and the tiger-mark command
behave as in 0.9.0, including all of its active-content protections.
- A new installer, built with TigerSetup. It still installs the desktop
application andtiger-marktogether, per user by default or for all users,
with the same install folders, the PATH option on by default, and an
optional desktop shortcut. - Open with for Markdown. TigerMarkView is registered as an available app
for.mdand.markdownfiles, so it appears under Open with and in
Settings > Apps > Default apps. The installer never makes itself the
default and never replaces an app you have chosen. If you have never chosen
one, Windows may open Markdown files with TigerMarkView directly. - Missing runtimes are installed for you. When the .NET 10 Desktop Runtime
or the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is missing, the installer now downloads
it from Microsoft and installs it before TigerMarkView, asking for
administrator approval where the runtime needs it.
Fixed
- A document dropped on the document area of the window is now recorded in
File > Open Recent, like a document dropped on the menu bar, toolbar, or
status bar. Links you follow still go only to the navigation history.
Upgrading from 0.9.0 or earlier
- Installing 0.10.0 removes an earlier TigerMarkView installation in the same
scope first, then installs the new one. Your settings, recent files, and PDF
export choices are kept. - The earlier installation is found only in the scope you install into. If
0.9.0 was installed for all users, install 0.10.0 for all users too (the
all-users choice in the wizard, or--scope machine). A per-user install
leaves an all-users 0.9.0 in place; remove it from Settings > Apps if you
do not want both. - Unattended installs use new switches. The Inno Setup options such as
/VERYSILENTand/CURRENTUSERno longer apply. Use, for example,
TigerMarkView-0.10.0-win-x64-setup.exe install --quietfor the current
user, install --quiet --scope machinefor all users, and
--option path offto leave PATH unchanged. A quiet per-user install stops
with an error rather than prompting when a missing runtime needs
administrator approval. - TigerMarkView now has a new entry in Settings > Apps, and uninstalling
removes only what it installed: its files, shortcuts, its own PATH entry, and
the Markdown registration. Settings and any default app you chose are left
alone.
