ShiftBrief is a free local workspace for small teams: schedules, employee records, planned hours, requests, saved history, and Sarah's records-based assistance.
Download and run
Download ShiftBrief-Setup-0.1.0.exe for Windows 10/11 (64-bit), run the installer, and open ShiftBrief from the Start menu. You can choose a desktop shortcut during setup. Python is included; no separate Python installation is needed. A portable ZIP is also available.
A new installation starts with a blank business. Choose Open example to explore the fictional Maple Street team, or enter your own records. Save a copy exports one team; Full backup and Restore backup transfer your saved workspace to another computer.
Normal Records · offline mode needs no AI model, account, or API key. Optional Strands Agents SDK / Ollama model integration supports broader language understanding; see the README for setup.
Employee departures and coverage
Sarah opens a review when you report that someone quit or was fired. After you confirm the end date, she reports remaining saved shifts and possible replacements, including available people and earlier starts or later finishes. You review all decisions; Sarah does not choose whom to fire, reassign shifts automatically, or contact employees.
Closing and uninstalling
Use Close ShiftBrief in the Start menu before updating or uninstalling. Uninstall through Windows Installed apps or the Start menu entry. Saved business records remain in your local application-data folder so uninstalling does not erase them.
This initial Windows release is unsigned. The installer, blank start, repeated launch, graceful close, standard uninstall, and retained data were tested. SHA-256 checksums are attached. See the repository README for details and source code under the MIT license.
