Easing
The ease decides how a step speeds up and slows down. The same move feels completely different with different eases: Linear is robotic, Out Quad settles gently, Out Back overshoots and snaps back.

Pick one from the Ease dropdown. It lists Linear and Flash first, then three groups:
| Group | Feels like | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Out | Starts fast, slows into place | Almost all UI: things arriving, appearing, landing |
| In | Starts slow, speeds away | Things leaving and not coming back |
| In Out | Slow, fast, slow | Moving between two places on screen, fullscreen transitions |
Within each group, Sine is the gentlest, and Quad, Cubic, Quart, Quint and Expo get steadily stronger. Back overshoots a little, Elastic springs, and Bounce bounces.
Tip
When in doubt, use Out Quad or Out Cubic. For something that should pop, like a button or a panel appearing, use Out Back.
The first entry in the Ease dropdown is Custom Curve. Pick it and a Curve row appears, where you draw the motion yourself:
- Left to right is time, from the start of the step to the end.
-
0is the From value and1is the To value. - Going above
1or below0overshoots, which is how you make a bounce or a little dip before moving.
Unity's curve editor has a preset bar along the bottom. Click a shape to use it, or use the arrow at the right of the bar to save your own for reuse.
Switching back to a preset keeps your curve, and switching back to Custom Curve keeps your preset, so you can compare the two.

Punch and shake steps have no ease, since they make their own wobble. Set Active and Play Sound are instant, so there's nothing to ease.
Mirroring doesn't change eases: a Hide made from a Show keeps the same Out ease, so things slow into place in both directions.
