Luigi's Mansion Recompiled 1.1.1
Luigi's Mansion Recompiled 1.1.1: a bug-fix update. If you're on 1.1, the game offers it in F1 > Game > Updates.
No game data is included. On first start the game asks for your own disc image (ISO/RVZ and other Dolphin formats) of the USA release (GLME01) and/or the European release (GLMP01). Read the README.txt in the package for requirements and details.

Fixed
- The first key door (Parlor) and the PAL base (#2, #10): the game had 1 MB less memory than on a console. At the first-key cutscene it ran out and overwrote system memory. On the European version that broke the frame timer, so the game ran far too fast or dropped to around 10 fps; the USA version was affected too. The memory layout now matches the console, and safety checks catch and log any such overwrite.
- Original 30 fps (#13): cutscenes, starting with the intro's map close-up, ran slower than real time and the sound drifted out of sync. The renderer was doing far more work per frame than needed at 30 fps; it now holds a steady 30 with the sound in sync, and the picture is unchanged. The Parlor after the key door is also back to a steady 30.
- Shader preparation on every start (#6):
- Starting with the shaders already cached is faster: about 0.5 s with default settings and 1.3-1.9 s with Enhanced lighting Ultra on a fast PC.
- The game still waits until every shader is ready, so nothing stutters.
- Shaders for other graphics settings are no longer deleted from the cache.
- The message now says whether it is loading or compiling, and why.
- After a crash or a forced close: the next start no longer recompiles every shader, which could take several minutes with Enhanced lighting.
- Rumble (#12): rumble is now re-sent to the controller assigned to each port, and retried if the controller refuses it. F1 > Controls > Sticks, triggers & rumble > "Test rumble" now tells you whether the controller accepted it. If rumble still doesn't work for you, please report what that button says.
- Windows user names with accents or other non-English letters: the game no longer crashes at startup.
- settings.ini saved with a byte-order mark: the first section is no longer lost.
- Linux on systems without full graphics support (OpenGL ES fallback): no longer crashes when the GPU keep-warm starts.
Known issues
- Steam Deck: some players report a soft lock after switching to 60 or 90 fps (#11). We couldn't reproduce it yet; a log from an affected Deck would help.
- The 2-player mode (Unused content) is unfinished.

New
- Automatic updates: from this version on, the game checks GitHub for new releases at startup, in the background. When one is out, it shows a notice, and F1 > Game > Updates lists the changes with "Download and install", "Skip this version" and "Later". The download is checked against its SHA-256 before anything is replaced, and settings and saves are never touched. You can turn the startup check off in the same place.
- New ambient occlusion: a new horizon-based AO uses the models' smooth normals, so round characters such as Toad, E. Gadd and Luigi no longer get polygonal, blocky shading. It also adds contact shadows under feet and furniture, and darkens corners. Its intensity and radius sliders are back in F1 > Visuals > Enhanced lighting.
- CRT filter video signals: a new Signal setting with RGB (clean), S-Video, Composite and RF. It models each cable's look: dot crawl, rainbows and colour bleed for composite, and ghosting, snow and a rolling hum bar for RF. "Signal advanced" has sliders for every part of it.
- −/+ buttons on every slider: each click steps one unit of the last digit shown.
Fixed
- First foyer arrival stutter: the enhanced-lighting effects are now built during "Preparing shaders" instead of on the first foyer frame. With a fresh shader cache, that frame's stall went from about 0.5 s to about 25 ms. The frame rate no longer drops to around 100 fps for half a minute after entering from the lab.
- Interpolation:
- The water effects (the Poltergust spray, the courtyard fountain, the kitchen faucet, Spooky's garden) move smoothly at high frame rates.
- The Poltergust hose no longer jumps for a frame now and then.
- Play as Mario: Mario's model no longer breaks apart. Luigi's face animations were being applied to it.
- Model viewer (F4): it no longer shows untextured white models when opened during play. It now runs at 30 fps without interpolation while open.
- Difficulty sliders:
- Ghost health no longer lowers Luigi's health on every map load.
- Scaled health no longer gets stuck in saves; saves keep the original values.
- Portrait ghosts' HP scales correctly.
- Disable recovery hearts: hearts now don't spawn at all with it on.
- Optional content:
- Crawling fear no longer drains Luigi's health when turned off mid-panic.
- Green Toad switches straight away.
- The beta ghost shading tooltip now describes what the option actually does.
- The bordered view keeps particles, the flashlight beam, bloom and AO inside its border, and works with the Game Boy Horror camera.
Known issues
- The 2-player mode (Unused content) is still unfinished and left in mostly the same state as it was in the original code.
Updating: your settings.ini keeps your saved values. The settings folder moves automatically: on the first start, %APPDATA%\Luigi's Mansion PC (Linux: the Luigi's Mansion PC folders in ~/.config, ~/.local/share and ~/.cache) is renamed to Luigi's Mansion Recompiled, with your settings, saves, installed discs and caches. If you turned ambient occlusion off in an earlier version, tick it again in F1 > Visuals > Enhanced lighting to try the new one.

Default Settings Hotfix
Luigi's Mansion PC 1.0.1
Known issues
- Enabling Ambient Occlusion under the enhanced lighting options causes the shading on some characters to appear polygonal and blocky, disable the AO for now. The rest of the enhanced lighting effects work as intended.
- A few things appear erratic while interpolating higher framerates: mostly water spray effects, sometimes the tube on the Poltergust 3000 jumps for a frame or two, working on resolving this.
- Some of the optional content is a little buggy, most of it works, but for example the Mario model when selecting "Play as Mario" is completely borked and sometimes the model viewer doesn't load properly. Some of the difficulty sliders have adverse side effects(Lowering Ghost HP will also lower Luigis HP next time you load into the Mansion). These will be fixed shortly.
- The 2-player mode (Unused content) is unfinished. The plan is to finish it soon, but for now it's mostly in the state it was left in in the original code.
Changes to 1.0.1:
- Enhanced lighting: turning it on now also turns on Ghost lights and Ambient occlusion by default. Enhanced lighting itself is still off by default, so the original look is unchanged until you turn it on.
Note for players updating from 1.0: your settings.ini keeps your saved values. If ghost lights and ambient occlusion stay off, tick them once in F1 > Visuals > Enhanced lighting.

Luigi's Mansion PC 1.0
First release of the native PC port of Luigi's Mansion (GameCube).
No game data is included. On first start the game asks for your own disc image (ISO/RVZ and other Dolphin formats) of the USA release (GLME01) and/or the European release (GLMP01). It then builds the game for your PC with the bundled compiler, which takes about 20 to 60 seconds. Read the README.txt in the package for requirements and details.
