SMARTastic 1.1.0 is a native macOS app for understanding SSD and HDD health and tracking current write volume.

Highlights

  • Reliable JSON-based SMART readings for Apple SSDs, NVMe and ATA drives, with honest unavailable values and clear failure/warning states.
  • Daily write-volume charts for 7, 30 and 90 days, based on real counter differences and calendar timestamps. History begins with your first measurement; missing days are not invented.

Install

Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. The Universal app supports Apple Silicon and Intel and is Developer-ID signed and notarized by Apple.

brew install --cask localfoundry/tap/smartastic

Homebrew installs smartmontools automatically. For manual installation, download and extract SMARTastic-1.1.0.zip, move SMARTastic.app to Applications, and install smartmontools with Homebrew.

Keep the app running with automatic refresh enabled to collect history. SMART access depends on the drive and adapter. SMART power-on hours may exclude low-power time and should not be treated as the drive's calendar age. SMART health information is not a prediction of the exact failure date.
