[BUG] Authentication broken in 2025.12.0

• Volkswagencarnet release with the issue: 5.2.3
• Last working homeassistant-volkswagencarnet release (if known):
• Home Assistant Core release with the issue: 2025.12.0
• Operating environment (Home Assistant OS/Supervised/Container/Core/venv): HAOS
• Car model and year: 2025 ID.7 GTX
• Country where the car was bought: CZ
• Valid VW Connect subscription: Yes
• Have you verified that the We Connect service works via VW´s portal?: Yes

Describe the bug

After upgrading to 5.2.3 and HA 20215.12.0 (both in the same restart) I can't login - despite the integration shortly showing the re-authentication was successful

I have a test system running the same combination of HA/VW integration and that instance weirdly works ok..

What have you done that it started to work? On my side still not working from this morning and 5.2.2 on and I have 100% same issue like you

Nothing... I just tried a couple times, then it worked but now I noticed the issue is back (sort of..) however this time I can control the car functions even with the prompt for reauthentication sitting there

Yes, I've made the change in v5.2.0.

• Trigger re-authentication flow if unable to retrieve data ([FR] Create repair issue with link to official login site to update EULA agreement if login fails #695)

And that is exactly what you see in the log. Something happened on VW side that caused this:

User identity token could not be verified!
Token verification failed
Login for VW account failed!

And as a result:
Vehicle with VIN WVWZZZEDxxxxxxxx not found in connection

Outcome: It triggers re-authentication

It looks like VW stopped replying with the data for a certain period of time.

I think it might be because there's a new registration procedure.
When logging into the portal, you now have to enter a code that's sent via email.
This code authorizes the browser for 30 days.

I have deleted integration and tried again from 0... Still same issue with login. HA today upgraded to last deployment version and restarted

This error originated from a custom integration.

Authentication error during login: Login form submission failed with HTTP 500. This might indicate incorrect credentials or a temporary service issue.

At the same time I can login to https://vwid.vwgroup.io/ and manage/ping my car here https://www.myvolkswagen.net/

@RKadm66 You’re right — VW has enabled 2FA for the web portal.
The good news is that the integration doesn’t seem to be affected, since it follows the Android app flow.

@fmft I’m not sure why it’s happening on your account specifically. An HTTP 500 usually points to a server-side issue.

I don't see anything like that when I login through web with the same exact credentials I'm using for the integration and which work perfectly fine on my test system with the same exact HA/VW version..

Having restarted Primary HA right now... problem seems to have disappeared.

Seems like VW is making some changes once again... Let's hope they will break the integration.

Make sure you upgrade to v5.2.3 and do an HA restart.
