Songr 1.1.0 — the desktop app

Songr now ships as a desktop app for Linux, macOS, and Windows — the same controller in its own window, with a tray icon, hardware media keys, and a first-run guide that finds your Roon Core. It runs its own copy of the Songr server privately on your machine; nothing else to install.

Downloads (attached below, built by CI):

  • Linux: AppImage, .deb, .rpm — x64 and arm64
  • macOS: .dmg — Apple Silicon and Intel
  • Windows: installer .exe

The builds are unsigned: on macOS right-click → Open the first time; on Windows use SmartScreen's "More info" → "Run anyway".

To play audio on the computer itself, install Roon Labs' free Roon Bridge alongside — Songr controls playback; Roon Bridge is what makes the machine an audio zone. The first-run guide walks through it.

Also in this release:

  • Hardware media keys and the system media panel follow the selected zone — in the desktop app and in Chromium-family browsers against a Songr server.
  • A first-run guide (server and app alike) for pairing with your Core, shown only on installs that have never paired.
  • Advanced (off by default): the app can serve browsers on your network, or connect to an existing Songr server instead of running its own.

The self-hosted server install is unchanged and remains the right shape for a Raspberry Pi, NAS, or any always-on machine — see the README.
