Coverage release: Gemini CLI joins the supported clients matrix
and detection now correctly identifies Claude Desktop and Codex
CLI when installed via channels that don't put a binary on PATH
(Microsoft Store, npm-global with bin-dir gotchas).

Added

  • Gemini CLI installer (mcp-aemps install gemini). Targets
~/.gemini/settings.json with the mcpServers map. Stdio uses
command+args (no type discriminator — Gemini infers
transport). HTTP uses httpUrl (Streamable HTTP), distinct
    from url (SSE) and serverUrl (Windsurf / Antigravity);
using the wrong field silently disables the server. Single
config path on every OS — no APPDATA branching. Schema verified
    against the official google-gemini/gemini-cli repo (docs/ tools/mcp-server.md, queried 2026-05-08).
  • Gemini CLI added to ALL_INSTALLERS / ALL_UNINSTALLERS so
mcp-aemps install (no subcommand) covers it automatically when
Gemini CLI is detected on the host.

Fixed

  • Claude Desktop detection now covers Microsoft Store installs.
    v0.4.16 only checked %LOCALAPPDATA%\AnthropicClaude\ (Squirrel)
and %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Claude\; Store installs land at
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Claude_<hash> and were therefore
reported as "not detected" → install skipped. v0.4.17 globs
Packages\Claude_* and additionally accepts the Electron
    app-data subdirs (%APPDATA%\Claude\Cache\, Local Storage\)
as positive evidence the app has been launched. macOS / Linux
    similarly pick up ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/Cache/
    and ~/.config/Claude/Cache/.
  • Codex CLI detection no longer requires codex on PATH.
Some npm-global installs leave the binary out of every shell's
PATH (npm bin dir not in $PATH, scoop / asdf indirection,
MSYS shells inheriting Windows PATH incompletely). Detection
    now also accepts ~/.codex/auth.json, ~/.codex/sessions/,
and ~/.codex/logs_2.sqlite — all created by codex itself
on first login / session, never by mcp-aemps.
