Compatibility Review: Go 1.24.8 → 1.26.1
All 17 CI checks pass including Go CI with tests. The upgrade is safe based on:
- Go 1 compatibility promise holds for both 1.25 and 1.26
godebug default=go1.23in go.mod pins GODEBUG behavior, protecting against subtle behavior changes- Dependencies (k8s 0.34.x, controller-runtime 0.22.1) compile and test successfully with 1.26.1
- Dockerfile follows best practices (distroless, non-root, multi-stage)
One suggestion below about keeping go.mod in sync.

Update the go directive from 1.24.4 to 1.26.1 and remove the separate toolchain directive (merged in Go 1.26+) to keep go.mod in sync with the Docker build image bumped in #192. The godebug default=go1.23 directive is preserved to maintain behavior stability.
