Nextcloud Server for Android v1.3.0 (ARM64)

Phone Storage Auto-Mount, WebDAV 423 Lock Fix, GD & HEIC Thumbnail Engine, and 40GB+ Transfers

A complete, self-hosted Nextcloud server running natively on ARM64 Android devices without requiring root access.

Highlights in v1.3.0

  • Phone Internal Storage (/storage/emulated/0) Auto-Mount:

    • Automatically detects and mounts phone internal storage as Phone Storage via files_external local backend.
    • Real-time filesystem timestamp change detection (filesystem_check_changes = 1) ensures photos, downloads, and files copied via Android File Explorer or PC USB cable (MTP) appear instantly in Nextcloud.
    • Zero database risk: Nextcloud internal SQLite database (owncloud.db) remains protected and isolated in private app storage, avoiding Android FUSE locking latency and accidental user deletion.
    • Dedicated toggle and capacity monitor in the Material 3 Storage tab.
  • WebDAV 423 Locked Fix:

    • Solved WebDAV HTTP 423 Locked errors during high-concurrency client synchronization and rapid file updates (filelocking.enabled => false, filelocking.ttl => 300).
    • Automated SQLite lock cleanup (DELETE FROM oc_file_locks;) on server initialization purges orphaned locks from interrupted uploads.
  • Seamless Cross-Storage File Copy ("Copy Did Not Proceed" Resolution):

    • Added socket-mediated COPY command to SdRootMediaStoreBridge and Local.php.
    • Guarantees 100% reliable copying and duplication of files and directories across Phone Storage, MicroSD card root, and USB OTG storage.
  • Native GD Image Thumbnail Engine:

    • Native GD library loaded for high-speed thumbnail generation supporting PNG, JPEG, GIF, BMP, and WebP.
    • Guarded bootstrap fallback stubs to ensure live compiled GD extensions are never masked.
  • iPhone HEIC & Video (MP4/MOV) Preview Generation:

    • Registered OC\Preview\HEIC and OC\Preview\Movie preview providers.
    • Full integration with ARM64 native ffmpeg binary for video thumbnail rendering.
  • 40GB+ Big File Uploads & Cloudflare Tunnel Optimization:

    • Enforced 20MB WebDAV chunk limit (files max_chunk_size = 20971520) to remain strictly below Cloudflare's 100MB request body cap.
    • Configured Nginx and PHP-FPM FastCGI buffers and timeouts to 3600s with fastcgi_buffering off to eliminate Cloudflare HTTP 524 gateway timeouts during chunk assembly.
  • Multi-Target End-to-End Verification:

    • Full 14-test autonomous test suite verified 100% passing across both physical hardware (Samsung Galaxy S8, Android 9 / API 28, arm64-v8a) and Android Studio Emulator (Android 14 / API 34).
