Watch your coding agents' usage limits from the menu bar, before you hit them. A native macOS menu bar app that polls the usage endpoints Claude Code and Codex use themselves, for any number of accounts of either, and alerts you (desktop notification, in-app toast, ntfy push) before a session, weekly or spend limit runs out.
brew install --cask roypadina/tap/agents-monitor- Installation: Homebrew, release zip, quarantine and Gatekeeper, build from source, update, uninstall.
- Accounts: local Claude Code and Codex accounts, remote accounts, config dirs, naming.
- Alerts: desktop, ntfy and toast sinks, thresholds, de-dupe and re-arm, auth alerts.
- How it works: polling, shared usage cache, usage history and graphs, no token refresh, keychain reads without prompts.
- Troubleshooting: card messages, logs, expired tokens, 429s.
- FAQ: safety, privacy, why it is not notarized, common questions.
- Feature requests and contributing: how to ask, supporters first, PR rules.
Per account, straight from the provider's own usage endpoint (the same data behind /usage in Claude Code):
- Session (5-hour window), Week, and model-scoped weekly limits such as Week · Fable. Any new limit bucket renders automatically.
- Extra-usage spend this month (Claude accounts only).
- A progress bar colored by severity (green, orange, red), a pacing tick showing where an even burn rate would put you right now, and a "resets in" countdown.
- Usage graphs: the chart button turns a card over to show each limit over the last 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days, plus a "full in ~Xh at this pace" warning under any limit that will run out before it resets.
- A configurable menu bar label: the worst percent across accounts, per-account values, and a usage dot per account.
Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later · Apple Silicon and Intel (universal binary). No Dock icon, no main window, no third-party dependencies.
- Install with the command above, then clear quarantine and open AgentsMonitor from
/Applications. - Your Claude Code and Codex logins are discovered automatically. See Accounts.
- Allow notifications when macOS asks, and optionally set up ntfy in Settings → Alerts. See Alerts.
If Agents Monitor saves you from hitting a usage limit by surprise, you can support its development. It is optional and always appreciated.
