Building from source

A Swift Package (Swift 6, macOS 14+; the package script builds a universal arm64 + x86_64 app). Requires Xcode or the Xcode command line tools.

git clone https://github.com/roypadina/VaultBar.git
cd VaultBar
swift test
Scripts/package_app.sh               # writes dist/VaultBar.app
ditto dist/VaultBar.app /Applications/VaultBar.app
open /Applications/VaultBar.app

Run the packaged app from /Applications, not from dist/.

Layout

Path What
Sources/VaultBarCore Testable logic: config, disk-image calls with stdin-only passwords, URL routing, Raycast scripts, synced-folder check, auto-lock pause
Sources/VaultBarApp Menu bar app (AppKit status item, SwiftUI windows): menu, password popup, auto-lock, settings
Tests/VaultBarCoreTests Unit tests plus a gated end-to-end test
Assets/icons SVG sources for the app and menu bar icons
Scripts/package_app.sh Builds the .app bundle
Scripts/make_icons.sh Regenerates icons from the SVGs (needs brew install librsvg and python3, which the Xcode command line tools provide)

Release zip

RELEASE=1 Scripts/package_app.sh

Also writes dist/VaultBar.zip.

End-to-end test

Uses a throwaway vault in .scratch/:

VAULTBAR_E2E=1 swift test --filter endToEnd
