Release Description:

We are excited to announce the latest release of CADECT, featuring significant improvements and enhancements to streamline your bioinformatics workflows. Here's what's new in this release:

  • Updated to Python: The codebase has been migrated to Python, offering improved maintainability, readability, and flexibility.

  • Dependency Removal: We have eliminated dependencies on Nucmer and seqtk, making CADECT more lightweight and efficient. It now operates seamlessly with Biopython version 1.83 (tested).

  • Enhanced Window Size Selection: We've refined the window size selection process to enhance usability and intuitiveness for users.

  • Size Selection Bug Fixes: We've addressed a bug related to size selection, ensuring accurate and consistent results. The original bash script encountered issues in this aspect, which have now been resolved.

  • New Output Format: CADECT now supports output formats identical to the input format, providing greater consistency and ease of use.

  • Format Bug Fixes: Previous versions of CADECT sometimes incorrectly generated output in fastq format, even with fasta input files. This bug has been fixed to ensure proper format conversion.

  • Output Data Generation: We've resolved issues with output data generation, ensuring that all generated files are correctly stored within the designated output folder.

  • Temporary File Handling: Bug fixes have been implemented to address instances where temporary files were not properly removed, improving overall system cleanliness and resource management.

  • Improved Processing Speed: While multithreading support is still in development, this release includes optimizations that significantly increase processing speed, enhancing overall performance.

We are committed to continuously improving CADECT to meet the evolving needs of our users. Stay tuned for future updates, including multithreading support and additional features aimed at further enhancing your bioinformatics analyses.

Thank you for using CADECT. We hope you enjoy it.
