@rsperko rsperko released this 04 Jul 04:12

KeyScribe is local-first voice dictation for macOS. Speech recognition runs on your Mac; optional
rewrite modes use only providers or endpoints you configure.

Install:

  • Homebrew: brew install rsperko/tap/keyscribe
  • Direct download: KeyScribe-0.1.18.dmg below

This is a pre-1.0 prerelease. Expect rough edges and fast-moving changes.

Highlights:

  • On-device speech recognition with curated local engines.
  • Plain Dictation with spoken edits such as new line, new paragraph, scratch that, verbatim spans,
    and clipboard insertion.
  • Mode routing by trigger, app or URL context, menu choice, and spoken suffixes such as "as an
    email."
  • Optional BYOK rewrite modes for polishing, formatting, email, Markdown, shell text, and selected
    text edits.
  • Local history, dictionary entries, replacements, and file-backed configuration under Application
    Support.

Known limits:

  • Requires macOS 15+ on Apple silicon.
  • Apple Speech appears only on macOS 26+.
  • In-app updates are not built yet; use Homebrew or download a newer DMG.
  • Optional rewrite can send redacted text to the provider you configure. Use Plain Dictation or a
no-rewrite mode for content that must stay fully local.
