This is ruchirguitar/RTLSDR-Airband, a personal fork of rtl-airband/RTLSDR-Airband. The demodulation engine (src/) is unmodified — for the core engine, its config file format, build flags, and general reference, see upstream's own wiki, which still applies here.
What this fork adds is gui/: a local web app for running the engine as a frequency recorder — any AM/NFM frequency your receiver's bandwidth covers — without hand-editing libconfig files.
- Frequency Recorder GUI — what it does, every tab explained, live listening, the recordings archive.
- Troubleshooting — the handful of real gotchas we hit getting this running on actual hardware, and what fixed them.
git clone https://github.com/ruchirguitar/RTLSDR-Airband.git
cd RTLSDR-Airband
# build the engine - -DNFM=ON is required for FM support
sudo apt-get install build-essential cmake pkg-config libmp3lame-dev libshout3-dev 'libconfig++-dev' libfftw3-dev
mkdir build && cd build && cmake -DNFM=ON ../ && make && sudo make install
cd ..
# run the GUI
cd gui && pip install -r requirements.txt && python3 app.pyOpen http://127.0.0.1:5050.
This tool can record or stream whatever your receiver picks up on the frequencies you configure. Radio recording laws vary by country and by transmission type — it's on you to know and follow the rules that apply where you are. See the in-app Help tab, or Frequency Recorder GUI, for more.
