v0.2.0-pre9 — test build
Test build from the dev branch — not for field use. Supersedes pre8.
New in pre9
The installer now spells out how to do by hand the things it cannot do reliably: Command-W to close the window (Don't Save), Command-Q to quit Script Editor, and the ⏏ button beside the disk image in the Finder sidebar. Saying "you can close and eject them yourself" was not an instruction. In the script header, in the success dialog, and on the docs site.
From pre8
Auto-eject fixed — the installer lives on the disk image, so a plain hdiutil detach returned "Resource busy"; it now uses -force from a detached shell. Auto-quit is best-effort by nature and no longer promised. And close (every document) — which would have closed any other scripts you had open — now closes only the document from the disk image.
From pre4–pre7
DMG with a hidden payload and a visible installer; human names; real icons; instructions separating what you do from what the script does.
From pre1–pre3
Text↔audio pairing table with an Unmatched-audio pane; combined mode joins matched recordings with exact shifted offsets; segnum removed by default; outputs refused over sources; tabbed layout.
Untested by humans: the GUI has only been driven headlessly, and no output has been imported into FLEx yet.
v0.2.0-pre8 — test build
Test build from the dev branch — not for field use.
New in pre8 — the auto-eject and auto-close that never worked
- Auto-eject fixed. The installer lives on the disk image, so Script Editor holds a file handle there and the script was trying to eject the disk it was running from —
hdiutil detachreturned "Resource busy" and the failure was swallowed silently. It now uses-force, from a detached shell so it runs after the script lets go, scheduled before the document closes. - Auto-close is honest now. You cannot reliably quit the app that is running your script — the quit event queues and is never processed. It is best-effort, and the wording no longer promises it: leftovers are harmless, the app is already installed.
- Bug found while fixing those:
close (every document)would have closed any other scripts you had open in Script Editor. It now closes only the document that came off the disk image, and quits only if nothing else remains. - Success is announced before any tidying, and no longer tells you to eject the image yourself moments before the script does it.
From pre4–pre7
DMG with a hidden payload and a visible installer; human names (FLExText Concatenator.app); real icons; instructions that separate what you do from what the script does.
From pre1–pre3
Text↔audio pairing table with an Unmatched-audio pane; combined mode joins matched recordings with exact shifted offsets; segnum removed by default; outputs refused over sources; tabbed layout.
Untested by humans: the GUI has only been driven headlessly, and no output has been imported into FLEx yet.
v0.2.0-pre7 — test build
Test build from the dev branch — not for field use.
New in pre7
The macOS installer's instructions now separate what you do (three clicks, with the exact button names) from what the script does (you do not do these). Previously both ran together in one numbered list, so the script's own actions read like steps to perform. Each described click was checked against the dialogs in the code.
From pre4–pre6
macOS ships a .dmg whose only visible file is the installer; app and assets carry human names (FLExText Concatenator.app); real icons on all platforms.
From pre1–pre3
Text↔audio pairing table with an Unmatched-audio pane; combined mode joins matched recordings with exact shifted offsets; segnum removed by default; outputs refused over sources; tabbed layout.
Untested by humans: the GUI has only been driven headlessly, and no output has been imported into FLEx yet.
v0.2.0-pre6 — test build
Test build from the dev branch — not for field use.
New in pre6
- The macOS installer's on-screen instructions now spell out all five steps, ending with closing its own document and quitting Script Editor — so the window vanishing reads as finished, not crashed. Also corrected "move" to "copy" (a disk image is read-only, so nothing can be moved off it).
From pre5
Human-friendly names: FLExText Concatenator.app / .exe, matching what the installer announces. Assets are FLExText-Concatenator-<platform>.
From pre4
macOS ships a .dmg whose only visible file is Install FLExText Concatenator.applescript: double-click, press Run (⌘R), answer Yes. Real app icons on all platforms.
From pre1–pre3
Text↔audio pairing table with an Unmatched-audio pane; combined mode joins matched recordings with exact shifted offsets; segnum removed by default; outputs refused over sources; tabbed layout.
Untested by humans: the GUI has only been driven headlessly, and no output has been imported into FLEx yet.
v0.2.0-pre5 — test build
Test build from the dev branch — not for field use.
New in pre5
- Human-friendly names. The app is now
FLExText Concatenator.app/FLExText Concatenator.exe, notflextext-concat. The installer previously claimed the friendly name while installing the hyphenated one — now they match. Download files areFLExText-Concatenator-<platform>(title-cased, no spaces, so URLs stay clean). - The installer tidies up after itself — ejects the disk image, closes its own document, and quits Script Editor.
From pre4
macOS ships a .dmg whose only visible file is Install FLExText Concatenator.applescript: double-click, press Run (⌘R), answer Yes. Real app icons on all platforms.
From pre1–pre3
Text↔audio pairing table with an Unmatched-audio pane; combined mode joins matched recordings with exact shifted offsets; segnum removed by default; outputs refused over sources; tabbed layout.
Untested by humans: the GUI has only been driven headlessly, and no output has been imported into FLEx yet.
v0.2.0-pre4 — test build
Test build from the dev branch — not for field use.
New in pre4
- macOS is now a .dmg, not a .zip. Open it and you'll see one file:
Install FLExText Concatenator.applescript. Double-click it (opens in Script Editor), press Run (⌘R), answer Yes. It clears the quarantine flag, copies the app to Applications, and ejects the image — nothing left behind.- The app inside is hidden on purpose, so it can't be double-clicked into Gatekeeper's Move to Trash warning.
- The old
.zipasset is gone; the macOS download isflextext-concat-macos-arm64.dmg.
- Real app icons on all three platforms, replacing the stock Python icon — including the window/taskbar icon while running.
- The gap setting explains itself: a caption says whether the value is one this app inserts (exact) or one that must match your joining tool, and the tooltip gives the real rendered length.
Carried over from pre1–pre3
Text↔audio pairing table with an Unmatched-audio pane; combined mode can join matched recordings with exact shifted offsets; segnum removed by default; outputs refused over sources; Cancel works mid-join; .flextext-only inputs; tabbed layout that doesn't crowd on smaller screens.
Untested by humans: the GUI has only been driven headlessly, and no output has been imported into FLEx yet.
v0.2.0-pre3 — test build
Layout rework: Sort and Combine-as are now tabs (only one on screen at a time), the Output path and Combine button are pinned below the scroll area so they never scroll away, and long labels are shortened. Minimum window size drops from 1098x813 to 826x640.
v0.2.0-pre2 — test build
Same as v0.2.0-pre1 plus a layout fix: the combined-mode options no longer crush into overlapping rows on smaller displays — text and audio options sit in two columns, and the window scrolls when cramped.
v0.2.0-pre1 — test build
Test build from the dev branch — not for field use.
New since v0.1.0: text↔audio pairing table with an Unmatched-audio pane; combined mode can join matched recordings into one WAV with exact shifted offsets; segnum removed by default; outputs refused over sources; Cancel works mid-join; .flextext-only inputs; much smaller downloads (PySide6-Essentials + Qt excludes, launch-verified in CI).
Untested by humans: the GUI has only been driven headlessly, and no output has been imported into FLEx yet.
v0.1.0
v0.1.0 — first release Combines SIL FieldWorks .flextext interlinear exports as a corpus of separate texts, or as one combined text with a paragraph per source. Combined mode can either discard audio segmentation or shift the time offsets onto a single concatenated timeline for pairing with joined audio in ELAN.
