Emitting them enables debuggers to detect stale and out-of-sync source files (see al13n321/nnd#51). Both DWARF 4 and DWARF 5 support file size as .debug_line, and DWARF 5 supports md5 hashes via DW_LNCT_MD5, which clang always emits.
