What happens

Has any one managed to get the backup & sync function working on the ios app? Once I selected the desired folder location and press the open button, nothing happens. When I swipe down to close the files app view I get a "No folder selected" pop up.

What you expected instead

Folder to be selected so I can then proceed and enable the Daily auto-backup. I want then to read the backup directly with the Mac OS app without having to connect my Whoop band to my Mac. I want to keep my iphone + whoop band as my daily drivers and data ingest points.

Steps to reproduce

1. Open Noop App
2. Click on the ... More button
3. Scroll down and select Backup & Sync button
4. Click on Choose folder button and wait for the Files viewer to appear
5. Choose a folder within my iCloud Drive (I have also tried locally on iPhone but get the same result) and Press "Open" ... its at this point that nothing happens when I press the Open button.
6. I swipe the Files viewer as to close it and then I get the "No folder selected" Pop Up message

• I attached or pasted a strap log above — or my bug is a clearly reproducible UI issue that doesn't need one (e.g. a typo, a button that does nothing) and I've described exactly how to see it.
• I checked the Troubleshooting guide — especially "history syncs but no data" (most often the strap isn't banking history to flash; charge it to 100% and reconnect).
• I checked the FAQ and — if I'm on a WHOOP 5.0 / MG — the 5.0/MG status page, and this isn't an already-known limit (e.g. SpO₂, or recovery/sleep on the 5/MG).
• I've left out anything personal (strap serial, account email, raw export).

Have you tried to create a new directory? I'm using latest iOS and v8.3.4 and it works (even in iCloud directory).

Yes, I have tried saving a new folder locally on the iPhone and on iCloud and same thing that it won't let me select it with the Open button.

I confirm I have the same issue as well, creating new folders won't let me select the directory on any saving location, it's just "stuck" and pressing open does nothing.

btw ryan, i have a whoop 4,5 and an MG so if you need me to test/run anything lmk, I can sideload the app with a devcert too on iOS...

Thanks all — and thanks @KillaBoi for offering to sideload and test.

Diagnosis: "pick a folder, tap Open, nothing happens, then No folder selected" means iOS's own folder picker never hands the folder back to the app — its Open button isn't firing on some iOS 26 builds (works for a few of you, fails for others). Two earlier attempts to coax that button didn't fix it, so instead of out-guessing the picker I've done two things:

1. A picker-free option — a new "Use NOOP's own folder" button that backs up inside NOOP's own folder, visible in the Files app under On My iPhone → NOOP → Backups (it appears there once the first backup is written). No picker, no folder-selection dance. Read those backups from Files, or drag that folder into iCloud Drive to open them on the Mac.
2. Instrumentation — the debug export now records exactly what the picker did, so I can tell whether it's fixable in-app or is purely an iOS picker bug we route around with option 1.

Both land in 8.4.0. @KillaBoi — I'll post a testing build that includes this shortly; once it's up, if you can reproduce the picker and send a debug export, that'll confirm the behaviour on your device.

8.4.0 is out with the fix. Update, open Backup & Sync, and you'll see a new "Use NOOP's own folder" button — it backs up inside NOOP (browsable in Files under On My iPhone → NOOP → Backups, or drag it into iCloud Drive for the Mac), with no dependence on the folder picker that wasn't letting you select. @KillaBoi — if you do still want to poke at the system picker, the debug export now records exactly what it does, so a log would tell me whether it's fixable in-app; but the fallback should unblock you either way.

Hey @ryanbr, gone ahead and done that.

Using the NOOP folder option works perfectly and automatically saves the backups to the NOOP folder.

In terms of the picker, it is still broken. If I select it manually, it won't do anything whenever I press the "open" button...

it says cancelled but i presume that is because I tapped out because I couldn't open the folder...

I also recorded it so you can see what I am personally experiencing, I assume it is the same for the others as well...
