Overview

I'm are excited to announce the first official release of Calorie Deficit Tracker (Diet Tracker), a desktop application designed to help you monitor and manage your calorie deficit effectively. This version includes essential features to track your resting energy, activity calories, and dietary energy, allowing you to determine if you're meeting your calorie deficit goals.

Key Features

  • Calorie Deficit Calculation: Enter your weekly average for resting energy, activity calories, and dietary intake to calculate your calorie deficit.
  • Detailed Feedback: Receive personalized messages indicating whether you are meeting the recommended 500-calorie deficit goal.
  • Adjustment Suggestions: Get advice on adjusting dietary intake or activity to meet your target deficit, including suggestions for extra carbohydrate consumption if you exceed the goal.
  • User-Friendly UI: A clean and intuitive interface designed with Tailwind CSS, featuring a dark color scheme.
  • Desktop Application: Built with Electron, allowing cross-platform support.
  • Visual Enhancements: Icons from React Icons (e.g., BsFire, GiShinyApple) for better visual understanding of input fields.

Improvements

  • Added support for custom icons for the Electron window, tailored for both Windows (.ico) and other platforms (.png).
  • Hide Number Input Spinners: The default arrows/spinners on number input fields have been removed for a cleaner experience.
  • Added CSS to hide scrollbars in input fields to enhance visual aesthetics.

Known Issues

  • Manual Dark Mode: Auto-detection of system dark mode is currently not implemented. Manual dark mode setup is recommended.
  • Minor adjustments may be needed for high DPI screens to ensure consistency across devices.
