SFXOS v3

R2.3 Alpha 1 · USB2 Preview

Turn your PC into a Safex Cash mining rig. Configure and manage it through a dashboard on your local network.

Get started

  1. Download the compressed .img.xz from [Releases](https://github.com/safex/sfxos/releases).
  2. Extract it to obtain the .img.
  3. Flash the image to a 16 GB or larger USB drive using balenaEtcher. This erases the selected drive.
  4. Connect Ethernet and boot the PC using a USB2 port.
  5. Find the PC’s IP address in your router, then open http://IP-ADDRESS:8080.
  6. Enter your Safex Cash payout address and click Start Mining.

Choose direct mining, and adjust mining power from the dashboard. Mining continues when you close the browser.

Install SFXOS

You need a 16 GB or larger USB drive, an Intel/AMD 64-bit PC, Ethernet, and 10 GiB of free space to extract the download.

1. Download and extract

Download the .img.xz from the release’s Assets.

brew install xz
cd ~/Downloads
xz -dk sfxos-v3-r2.3-alpha1-usb2-amd64.img.xz

Wait for extraction to finish, then select the resulting .img in balenaEtcher and flash your USB drive.

  • Linux: Open Terminal and run:

    cd ~/Downloads
    xz -dk sfxos-v3-r2.3-alpha1-usb2-amd64.img.xz

Extraction produces a .img file.

2. Flash the USB drive

Open [balenaEtcher](https://etcher.balena.io/) → Flash from file → select the extracted .img → select your USB drive → Flash.

Flashing erases the selected drive. Wait for verification to finish, then safely eject it.

3. Boot and start mining

  1. Connect the USB drive to a USB2 port on the mining PC and connect Ethernet.
  2. Select the USB drive in the PC’s boot menu. Allow a few minutes for first-time setup.
  3. Find the rig’s IP address in your router’s connected-device list. From another device on the same network, open http://IP-ADDRESS:8080.
  4. Click Configure, enter your Safex Cash public payout address, and choose your mining power. Leave Safex Recommended selected for direct mining, or choose your pool.
  5. Click Apply Changes and wait until the change finishes.
  6. Click Start Mining. Allow the miner to initialize and the hashrate to appear.

The USB drive stays connected while the rig runs. Closing the browser does not stop mining; use Stop Mining in the dashboard.
