The first public build of pālana — a native Mac file manager for the homelab operator. Dual-pane over SSH, every operation planned before it's enacted, ZFS spoken natively.

palana-0.4.0-beta.dmg below. Drag to Applications and open it. Signed and notarized (Developer ID) — no "unidentified developer" warning. macOS 14 or later, Apple Silicon or Intel.

What's in this build

  • The engine, complete and headless — the SSH Conduit, the Field (topology read from your ~/.ssh/config), directory listing, the plan engine, and the transports (rsync direct/proxy, zfs send/receive). 97% test coverage.
  • The Surface — dual panes, plan → enact, the field view, host onboarding, settings, favorites, rename and create.

Not in yet (coming before v1.0)

  • The ZFS workbench tool — dataset management, snapshots, pools.
  • The interactive terminal.

This is a beta

Expect rough edges. Feedback is wanted — what's broken, what's missing, what feels wrong — open an issue.

Source is open under GPL-3.0. The full build record — every design decision, in order — is public in ho-process/.
