Journal mention tracking (complete)

Highlights

- Group inserts expand
members:intopeople: - Settings toggle to disable tracking
- Toasts when lists change; graceful YAML error handling
- Ghost create flows track mentions; link-only ghosts do not
Install
BRAT: Add beta plugin sagersmith8/obsidian-journal-utils and update to 1.2.0.
Community Plugins catalog: Not listed yet — see README for how to submit to obsidian-releases if you want public discovery without BRAT.
Full behavior
See README.
1.1.3
Notices and ghost create tracking
- Toast when frontmatter actually changes: "Added Joy to people"
- No toast on dedupe / no-op
- YAML error toast if frontmatter cannot be updated (body link still inserts)
- Ghost → Create person/location now updates frontmatter
- Ghost → Insert link only still skips frontmatter
Test plan
- Insert new person → see "Added Joy to people" toast
- Insert same person again → no mention toast
- Ghost → Create person →
people:updated + toast - Ghost → Insert link only → body only, no mention toast
1.1.2
Group mention expansion
Inserting a group link now expands members: into individual entries in people: (group name is not listed).
Works for:
- Selecting an existing group from the person picker
- Creating a new group via the member picker
Manifest version matches release tag (fixes BRAT version warning).
Test plan
- Insert an existing group (e.g. Ryersons) →
people:lists members, body has[[GroupName]] - Create a new group with 2+ members → members appear in
people: - Insert group when a member is already in
people:→ no duplicate
1.1.1
Mention tracking settings toggle
- New setting: Update people/locations frontmatter on insert (default on)
- Turn off to insert body links only — no frontmatter changes
Test plan
- Settings → Journal Utils → disable mention tracking
- Insert a person → body link only, no new
peopleentry - Re-enable → insert another person → frontmatter updates again
1.1.0
Journal mention tracking (preview)
Picker inserts now auto-update frontmatter on the active note:
- Insert person link → appends to
people:(deduped) - Insert location link → appends to
locations:(deduped) - Group inserts still add body link only (member expansion coming next)
Setting mentionTrackingEnabled defaults on (settings toggle UI in next release).
Test plan
- Open a daily note
- Insert a person via picker → check Properties for
people - Insert same person again → list unchanged
- Insert a location → check
locations
