  • Report failed tool version probes correctly in doctor, including timeouts and launch errors.
  • Stop Git fetch subprocesses on timeout or interruption and bound captured diagnostics.
  • Fix EPUB preview when the system temporary directory uses a symlink, including macOS /var.
  • Add opt-in build --format pdf using shared chapter preparation and installed Chromium.
  • Add A4/Letter page settings, margins, page numbers and PDF text/resource checks.
  • Keep EPUB default and PDF reports separate. PDF requires the optional pdf Python extra.
