Thread is a private meeting companion for macOS. Start it before a call and it listens, transcribes live, and helps you turn that into notes, summaries, and follow-ups — without anything leaving your Mac.

There is no account, no sign-up, and no cloud. Sessions are plain Markdown files in folders you choose.

• Live transcription of your microphone and everyone else on the call, on-device
• Rich notes beside the transcript, with the usual keyboard shortcuts
• Enhance rewrites rough notes into a structured summary — overview, key points, decisions, and action items — automatically when you stop, or whenever you ask
• Ask chats over this session or your whole library
• Notch (optional) — a Liquid Glass strip on the MacBook notch to start or stop recording, see the timer, and take notes while a call is going
• Named speakers (experimental, off by default) — transcript lines can show participant names from Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams
• Tasks pulled from the meeting, as a checklist you can tick off
• Smart term correction for names and jargon Thread has learned from you
• Search across every note, transcript, and title
• Multiple recordings per session, each timestamped
• Apple Notes (optional) — copy a saved session into Notes for reading on your phone. Thread still keeps the Markdown file

Thread needs macOS 26 (Tahoe) and an Apple Intelligence–capable Mac for Enhance and Ask. Transcription and note-taking work without Apple Intelligence.
