2.4.0
What's new in 2.4.0
A more complete Agentforce Studio, Squads that agents can launch, and plugin updates you control. Zana 2.4 brings agent tabs, shared drafts, live test progress and simulation batches to the Studio. Modern Squads run as conversations, threads can open in their own windows, and independent plugins can update without waiting for a new Zana release.
Agentforce Studio
- Work on several agents. Open agents in separate tabs. Each keeps its editor tabs, Assistant conversation and selected tools when you switch away and back.
- One shared draft. Studio and thread panels follow the same agent document. Unsaved edits survive closing and reopening the Studio, and proposed agent edits can be reviewed against the current draft. A thread's Agent panel brings together the file, Preview, Tests, Graph, Actions and Comments, with Open in Studio when you want to edit.
- Tests in one place. Browse local scenario suites and Salesforce Testing Center definitions with This agent / All agents, search and Has runs filters. Local suites remain available when the org cannot be reached. Expand a case to inspect its conversation, expectations, context and last result.
- Follow a test as it runs. See the current case, conversation turn, stage, completed count and elapsed time. Reopening Tests reconnects to an active run. Org eval shows elapsed time while Salesforce works, then displays the results it returns.
- Run simulation batches. Pick customer scenarios, repeat them, and follow each conversation in Simulate or Rehearse. Open transcripts, judge feedback and previous batches, stop a running batch, or ask the agent to improve failing conversations. AI judge verdicts are advisory; they do not qualify an agent for activation.
- See test gaps on the graph. Case results mark the topics and actions their expectations cover. Inspect failing cases and ask the agent to draft cases for uncovered parts. Hover highlights related nodes and connections without the rapid blinking or viewport jumps.
- Preview context for you and your agent. Agents can inspect available context fields, manage presets and start Preview with a saved preset. Preview's mode switches respond across the full visible label.
- Smoother collaboration. Agent requests keep your message short while passing the file, selection, problems and comments as context. Agent file writes refresh the open editor. Inline review comments are clickable, and comments can be edited or deleted.
- A focused Studio. Script, Preview, Tests, Graph and Org preview open as views of the active agent. Publishing, activation and deactivation go through the agent's lifecycle tools with confirmation in its thread; the Studio's Release tool and Publish button have been removed.
- Faster org browsing. Testing Center definitions load in batches and reuse cached summaries. Connected orgs show loading progress, schema search puts exact and prefix matches first, and the Problems count includes errors and warnings rather than informational messages.
Squads
- Ask an agent to start a Squad. Agents can prepare a launch card for your review or start a run directly when the Squad and Project permit it. Either can require review before an agent-started launch proceeds. Results can report back to the owning conversation, with the Inbox as a fallback if it is gone.
- Modern Squad conversations. Modern orchestrators and workers run as ACP threads and appear together in Kanban, List, Workflow and the sidebar. Open a member's conversation from its row; CLI and Modern labels make the transport clear.
- Squads and solo agents stay distinct. Flow view labels solo agents separately, shows every orchestrator and sizes rows to keep cards from overlapping. Sidebar workers show their own session titles.
- Attach plans from more places. Pick, drop or @-mention a plan in your Project or an allowed location outside it. The proposal lists the attached sources for review. The picker opens in the Project, includes dot folders and preserves attachments after a failed launch.
- Clearer plan correction. Recoverable step labels and IDs are normalized automatically. Plans that need changes get a correction card naming the actual problem and the proposed correction. Cancelled correction runs explain why they cannot resume.
- More reliable launches and reports. Launchers use the Project whose chat or + button you clicked, including remote Projects. Terminal mouse and focus traffic no longer stalls Squad reports, and reports wait while you have an unsent draft.
Plugins
- Independent updates. Git and npm plugins check for compatible updates, which you apply from Plugins or with
zcc plugin update <id>andzcc plugin update --all. Updates keep the installed source, selector and subdirectory; exact versions, tags and commits stay pinned. - Bundled plugins keep their ownership. Plugins shipped with Zana update with the application. Independent packages cannot replace a bundled identity, and application updates preserve your disabled or uninstalled choices, settings and stored data.
- Recovery after failed updates. Plugin activation records its progress and restores owned state after a failed or interrupted migration, so a partial update can recover on startup.
- A clearer Plugins page. Installed plugins use responsive cards and the catalogue uses the available width. Official catalogue changes become visible without a website redeploy.
- Consistent side panels. Plugin pages share the host's Agent tab, New Tab, resize, maximize and hide controls. Project plugin conversations keep the correct Project target, and side-panel tools stay with their page and window.
Everyday work
- Threads in their own windows. Open a conversation and its side panel in a separate window. Split layouts survive new windows and relaunches.
- Find and navigate faster. Ctrl+F / Cmd+F opens thread search. Opening Settings focuses Search settings, and Find file focuses its input; Escape clears the query before closing. Opening a file reveals it in the Explorer tree.
- Copy and reveal. Fenced code blocks have a Copy button. File previews can reveal their file in Finder or Explorer, and editor buttons open the selected file in its Project.
- Drafts stay put. Composer messages, Inbox replies and Follow-up answers survive navigation. The Inbox reply bar stays visible while you read a long message, and read marks survive updates from another process.
- Names and sessions survive restarts. Manual thread names are preserved, Claude sessions follow thread renames, and sessions wait for their provider before resuming after a restart. Settings adds the idle timeout for releasing thread sessions.
- Cleaner conversations and terminals. Long prompts collapse according to their displayed height while assistant replies remain expanded. Returning to a terminal drops stale omitted-output markers, and Cmd+K clears the active terminal.
- Steadier side panels and dictation. Resizing a side panel no longer sticks or jumps when the pointer crosses an editor or preview, and voice input keeps working while remote machines are connected.
Windows and remote access
- Windows integration. Open Projects in VS Code, Cursor or IntelliJ and launch an external terminal. Shortcuts use Ctrl, Alt and Shift labels. Salesforce CLI and Claude executable discovery, Claude skill links and backslash paths work correctly on Windows. The website links directly to Windows and both Mac installers.
- More resilient Zana Connect. Tunnel reconnects tolerate event-loop stalls and use staggered retries. Re-enrolling can reclaim your address, remote enrollment recovers more reliably, and a revoked connection shows a clear message with a sign-in action.
- Browser panels return with their thread. A side-panel browser revealed while its thread is in the background becomes visible when you open that thread.
2.3.6
What's new in 2.3.6
A sharper Agentforce Studio, fetching an agent and its dependencies from your org, steers that always land, and machines that pair even when Zana Connect says no. Zana 2.3.6 focuses the Studio on the agent you have open, opens Ask agent as a composer you control, retires the legacy relays in favor of Zana Connect, and fixes a set of thread, host and composer issues.
New
- Fetch latest from org. A button in the Salesforce tab checks what changed in the org, retrieves the components you pick into a temporary folder and shows each file before anything is written. Files you edited locally are listed as conflicts with a diff, and you choose Keep local or Take org for each one. The check follows the open view (Agents, Apex & LWC or everything), and agents can run the same fetch through the workbench.
- Fetch an agent with its dependencies. The agent bar has a Fetch button that checks the open agent, its newest org version, and the Apex classes, Flows and prompt templates its actions call. References missing from the org are listed. The fetch dialog opens on a summary with one action per group, and its full list has a name filter. Fetch latest now also covers Flows and prompt templates.
- Open in Agentforce Builder. A toolbar button opens the current agent in Agentforce Builder in Chrome, behind the org read check, without exposing the session URL.
- Simulate and Live preview. Preview offers Simulate and Live. Clicking Start or Send in Preview is the approval, so the run starts without a confirmation in a thread. Runs started by an agent still ask.
- Ask agent opens a composer. Ask agent in Design Docs and plugin project tabs opens the side-panel composer prefilled with the request. You pick the harness and send; nothing starts before that. Panel conversations about a doc join that doc's Agents list.
- Design Docs and Salesforce come installed. New and existing installs get the Design Docs and Salesforce plugins enabled by default. If you uninstalled either one, it stays uninstalled.
- Tiered Squad workers. Built-in Squad Worker personas come in low, medium and high tiers, and the built-in personas now use tiers instead of fixed models. Each Squad can turn tier routing on or off, or follow the global default. The Architect persona remains for existing Squads; new Squads should use Squad Worker (High).
- City themes in Agent City. Agents → World has a City theme picker: Green city, San Francisco and Zürich. Themes change the artwork only; plots, counts and agents stay the same, and the choice is saved per view.
- Customize the sidebar. Customize navigation lets you show, hide and reorder sidebar destinations, with Restore defaults to undo. More is now an icon button beside Settings, and a dot marks it when the current page is hidden.
Improved
- Studio focuses on the open agent. The explorer shows the open agent's actions and references, with an All agents button to go back. It can be resized and shows the dependency outline with an exact count of org agents.
- Flow and Apex tabs get their own header. Save, Preview and Publish show only on the agent tab. Flow and Apex tabs show their name, type and status, a Project / Org switch with a drift dot, and what a Flow reads, writes and calls, with Map, Source, Contract and Used by tabs. The Project / Org choice is remembered per project.
- Org copies match the project format. The org side of an Apex class or Flow is retrieved in source format, like the VS Code extension, so comparisons line up and an inactive Flow shows its latest version. Fetched files go to the package folder that already holds the component.
- Close editor tabs from a menu. Right-click a tab (or press Shift+F10) for Close, Close others, Close to the right and Close all.
- Compact Design Docs list. Rows fit on one line with the summary in the tooltip, Draft no longer shows a pill, rows quote the newest open comment and its author, projects get a color, and docs an agent changed since you last opened them are marked.
- Safer agent worktrees. New managed worktrees start from a freshly fetched default branch instead of whatever branch was checked out. Automatic cleanup waits 5 minutes after an archive or exit and keeps a worktree that has uncommitted or untracked changes.
- Agent browser logins persist. Each thread's agent browser tabs share one profile, so logins survive new tabs and app restarts without crossing threads.
- Studio toolbar. Save is a split button with Save as… in its menu, Publish is the primary action, and Compile is an icon button. Editor tabs scroll horizontally.
- Agents list. Rows are compact, project agents come first, each row has its own Retrieve, and org agents that have a local copy appear under In this project.
- Large agents. Agent Script sources up to 10 MB can be previewed, saved and retrieved.
- Action details show only what applies. An Apex action without declared parameters hides Inputs & outputs, a reference opened from outside the script hides Used by, and the unused Last preview tab is gone.
- Apex, Flow and Lightning Type sources in large projects. Sources in the standard project folders open even in large repositories. When a source is missing, the message points you to the Org switch.
- The Studio Assistant uses the side-panel agent. It opens the shared side-panel conversation linked to the current file, and falls back to the in-rail chat when no panel agent is available.
- New threads use your default harness. Plugins that start a thread without naming a provider use the default harness from Settings.
- Inbox updates live. Items pushed by threads, plugins and schedules appear in the desktop Inbox right away, and a Refresh button reloads it.
- Release view. Publishing shows compact status rows with retry per step and a clear Publish action.
- Pending agents in background activity. Agents that are still starting show in the background activity list.
- Clearer refusals. Salesforce actions that are blocked explain why, instead of showing an internal headless message.
- Pi on Windows. Pi starts through Node directly, so its bridge channels work, and managed installs can update themselves.
Fixed
- Tool policy fails closed. Native tool calls are denied until every enabled policy plugin is ready, including while one reloads, instead of being allowed during that window.
- Thread open shows the right browser. Opening a thread replaces a stale inspector, so it no longer covers the thread or keeps its browser hidden.
- Reduced motion in Agent City. The motion control shows the reduced state as soon as the system asks for reduced motion.
- Steers are never dropped. A steer sent while a session starts, as a turn ends, before the first turn's session exists or while the machine reconnects is held and delivered to the live turn, or starts a new turn when the thread is idle.
- Machine pairing falls back to SSH. When Zana Connect refuses, revokes or can't be reached for enrollment, installing or repairing an SSH machine uses the SSH tunnel instead of failing with "Enrollment denied or access revoked". Remote install and pairing work end to end.
- Composer environment error. Opening a thread no longer shows "environment does not belong to this project and machine" in the composer while it loads.
- Broken skill files stay out of the composer. A skill with invalid frontmatter no longer puts a red error on every new chat. The Skills view lists it with the file line and the reason.
- Agent preview. Agent preview works again in the Studio, and the agent editor has a Preview button. Live preview no longer times out after 20 seconds, and you can select text in Preview.
- Agentforce Builder and publishing. Open in Agentforce Builder opens the right agent version, and publishing works when version details can't be read.
- Host offline banner. The composer shows one host-offline message instead of several, and reloads when the host reconnects.
- Remote installs replace old daemons. Installing on a remote machine stops any daemon already running for that host, and the reconnect popup no longer reports the tunnel as timed out while the install is still running.
- HTML previews. HTML file previews are served with their own content security policy.
- Browser side panel. Scoped CDP automation works in the side-panel browser, login popups open as native windows, and closed tabs are cleaned up. Previews no longer show the phone-sharing row.
Removed
- Legacy phone and machine pairing relays. Zana Connect is now the only way a phone reaches your computer, and machines pair over Zana Connect or the SSH tunnel. A phone relay connection saved in an older version shows as not connected; sign in with Zana Connect in Settings to reconnect. The Settings relay field is now "Public app URL".
2.3.5
What's new in 2.3.5
Work in more windows, steer split panes from the keyboard, and keep scheduled and background work under control. Zana 2.3.5 opens Salesforce Studio in its own window, adds Scheduler recovery and Squad worktrees, lets you choose which skills agents load, and makes background processes visible and stoppable.
New
- Scheduler recovery. Choose whether missed runs catch up once, catch up each missed time up to a limit, or skip. Enable automatic retries for temporary failures per schedule. New schedules start with recovery enabled; existing schedules keep their timing until you opt in.
- Scheduler Problems view. See missed, skipped and failed runs with reasons and recovery hints, then retry or dismiss them individually or in bulk. Agents and
zcc schedule runs, retryanddismisscan manage the same run history. - Squad worktrees and recovery. Run a Squad in a managed Git worktree, with defaults at the global, project and Squad levels. Retained worktrees offer Inbox actions to keep or delete them, or instruct a follow-up agent. Squad details let you relaunch from a retained plan, resume an existing Squad or recover a timed-out run when available.
- Correct Squad plans before continuing. An invalid provided plan pauses for an Inbox correction and approval flow, then resumes the same Squad. Scheduler and Goal runs save the approved correction back to their prompt or objective, with checks for concurrent edits. Squad Goals now offer inferred or provided plans.
- Skills controls for local threads. Choose On, Manual or Off per skill, filter by harness and state, and search by source or plugin. Skills remain On by default.
- Salesforce Studio in its own window. Open Agentforce Studio as a separate window with an activity bar, org context kept in sync across windows, and a title showing the agent, org and a Production or Unknown org badge. Agent cards and Preview trace steps open there directly, and Bring back returns the tab to the main window.
- Release and Tests lanes for Agentforce. Save, compile and publish agents, then activate or deactivate org versions, each behind a signed approval sheet. View any version read-only with a diff against your draft. The Tests pane runs YAML specs, pins a preview as a test, and offers a fix loop.
- Agentforce Studio workbench. An assistant rail, inline agent edits with per-hunk accept or reject, gutter comments, traces, scenario suites and chat cards. A collapsible explorer adds a Lightning Types viewer, and anonymous Apex runs directly after review.
- Split-pane shortcuts. Move focus between panes with ⌘⌥ and the arrow keys, cycle with ⌘⌥[ and ⌘⌥], jump with ⌘1–8, maximize with ⌘⇧M and close with ⌘⌥W. All are remappable in Settings → Shortcuts. Dividers snap to an even split, panes of archived threads close themselves, and "Open in split below" joins the thread menu.
- Edit queued prompts. Change a queued message before it sends. Later messages keep their order, and a conflicting change keeps your draft.
- Notification levels. Choose all, input-only or muted per thread, with a default for child threads. Phone notification previews strip markdown and redact secrets.
- Stop background tasks from their card. Each background task gets a Stop control, plus Stop all, even while the thread is idle.
zcc thread background stopuses the same path. - Storage & retention. An optional built-in plugin clears old thread files on each machine. It is installed disabled, every policy defaults to Never, and it never deletes threads.
- GitHub login on other machines. The GitHub plugin can forward your local
ghlogin to non-primary machines, scoped to github.com. A machine's own settings win. - Publish design docs to GitHub Pages. A Publish dialog exports a doc as a static site, pushes it and reports the Pages URL. Agents opened from a doc stay in its side panel.
Improved
- Organize design docs. Pin documents, find those with open comments in Needs me, and group the list by project or use a Recent timeline. Alternative proposals nest beneath their original document, and collapsed sections remember their state.
- Shared question controls. Pi input requests and plugin questions use the same conversation UI, with choice descriptions, multi-select, navigation, cancellation and retained drafts.
- Control Scheduler concurrency. Set the maximum simultaneous runs and choose automatic, queued or skipped overflow. Recovery catch-ups and retries queue when the limit is reached.
- Clearer Squad launch failures. Required skills and MCP servers are checked before launch. Missing or disabled requirements show their cause in the launch composer, Scheduler run or Goal iteration.
- Project identity in the titlebar. In a single-project view the titlebar name opens the project actions menu, and the rail shows a flat Sessions list.
- Plugin side-panel agents know their plugin. Side-panel conversations start grounded on the plugin and page they were opened from, stay out of the Agents list, and can be promoted into it. A fresh panel composer offers your last five conversations.
- Running-process warnings. Thread rows show how many processes are still running, and archiving or closing warns that it will stop them.
- Faster AI Harness settings. Opening the page reuses the startup harness check instead of re-probing every CLI; Check status still re-probes on demand.
- Steadier terminals and inbox. Product resets no longer blank and replay terminals, terminals keep their scroll position, and Inbox revisits skip skeleton flashes.
- Calmer plan cards. A closed plan card stays closed across new messages and reloads, and finished plans leave the timeline.
- Longer agent questions. Ask User Question waits up to seven days, and long tool calls keep their connection alive.
Fixed
- Voice input no longer fails before transcription because its timeout exceeds the host command limit.
- Windows titlebars provide working native minimize, maximize and close controls, with consistent height and spacing.
- Claude Code CLI Agents no longer have every tool call denied when a native policy hook has no decision; the CLI's own permissions still apply.
- Cursor's Auto model selects correctly, and ACP connection failures retain their original error details.
- Harness setting changes refresh providers from the saved configuration. Pi default models, stale OpenCode model selections and project-specific agent discovery recover consistently.
- Pi input, selection, confirmation and editor requests appear in the conversation and return answers or cancellation to the provider.
- Design Docs' Copy chat reference and Copy id actions work in the desktop app, and picker search fields receive focus when opened.
- Google Analytics sends compatible installation IDs and engagement events so collection is accepted correctly.
- Pi trusts the operating system's certificate store, so providers behind a corporate root certificate connect when Zana is launched from the Dock. A "Trust system certificates" setting controls it.
- Native skills are discovered on the machine that runs the agent, not only the primary machine.
- Threads created right after launch wait for their provider plugin instead of failing with "unknown thread provider".
- Shell reads such as
cd dir; head fileresolve to the right file, and Preview is hidden for files it cannot open. - Agentforce Preview runs end cleanly when you switch files or close the panel, and Live sessions are released with their thread.
- Codex accepts
nonereasoning and no longer duplicates sub-agent follow-ups; ACP agents re-apply changed model, effort and tier on follow-ups. - Long-lived plugin runtimes no longer hit "Plugin signal limit exceeded".
- Shared previews list the primary machine once, and pairing relay requests stay pinned to the product origin.
- Agents create design docs only when you ask for one.
2.3.4
What's new in 2.3.4
Find settings faster, work with agents beside your plugins, and keep conversations moving. Zana 2.3.4 adds Design Docs and plugin panel agents, makes busy projects more responsive, and improves agent approvals, recovery and quit protection.
New
- Design Docs. Install the optional plugin from Plugins to write and review specs, RFCs and ADRs with multi-file documents, mermaid diagrams, HTML mockups, review comments and revision history. Agents can read, edit and comment through dedicated tools, and documents can be published as rendered pages with a shared site kit.
- Search every setting. Search names, help text, options and current values, with typo-tolerant results in Settings and the command palette. Selecting a result opens and highlights the exact control, including plugin settings and machine cards. Secret values are excluded.
- Agents beside plugin pages. Open a new agent from a plugin page’s side panel and keep its conversation beside your work. PR Monitor’s panel agent can manage tracked PRs, filter the board and open PR details.
- Agents-only sidebar view. Show just your running agents in the sidebar, each tagged with its project, without the project rows.
- Send now for queued prompts. Send a queued prompt immediately from the desktop or an authenticated phone, after a single confirmation.
- Swipe to close on the phone. Swipe left on an agent card in the phone kanban to close it.
- Optional Salesforce toolkit providers. Use project- and org-scoped Salesforce tools with approval for actions that make changes, plus an improved Agent Script editor toolbar. The toolkit update adds SOQL schema checks, Data 360 write confirmation, Omni-Channel Flow authoring and AgentScript voice review.
- Prompt Library. Install the optional plugin from Plugins to browse prompt history, star useful prompts, and restore their structured content into the composer.
- Native agent questions. Supported providers can present choices and accept free-text answers directly in a conversation. Answer drafts survive navigation and reloads.
- Experimental provider controls. Enable safe-mode and service-tier controls in Experimental settings for providers that support them.
Improved
- Design Docs workbench. Download a complete document as a ZIP, collapse the document list and file tree with remembered state, and filter by status or project with document counts. Open a linked agent conversation beside the document.
- Easier-to-scan Agents List. Group agents by project or recent activity, filter unread conversations, collapse status groups and read longer titles. Selected threads retain their right-hand panel.
- Cleaner conversation panels. A simpler thread header, clearer question cards, elapsed working indicators and compact background activity make conversations easier to follow. Plugin pages use the available width when their side panel is open.
- HTML previews. HTML files open in a rendered side-panel preview with a Code / Preview toggle.
- Library naming. The notes and findings plugin is now consistently called Library, keeping it distinct from Design Docs.
- Smaller archived history. Archived threads preserve the conversation while compacting tool output, reasoning and other execution details in the background.
- A more responsive desktop. Project rosters and unread counts use less repeated work, conversation outlines reuse unchanged history, and hidden panes suspend unnecessary refreshes. Large-repository status checks run in the background, keeping project requests responsive.
- Lighter Settings startup. Settings sections load when needed, reducing the initial renderer bundle.
- Clearer AI Harness settings. Installation status, searchable model lists, and grouped launch settings make setup easier to inspect and use with the keyboard.
- Model-list recovery. Refresh and retry actions recover provider catalogs while retaining usable choices during temporary failures.
- Models on any machine. Remote hosts load their model lists without needing a project checkout, and CLI Agents always use the selected host's catalog.
- Faster startup with plugins. The desktop becomes ready without waiting for plugins to scan, build or start, and a stalled plugin recovers automatically with bounded retries.
- Clearer Git import errors. Importing a project from Git explains access failures, keeps Git's diagnostics, and lets you retry.
- Project pane dragging. Dragging from the project sidebar now supports diagonal movement into pane drop targets.
Fixed
- Quit confirmation now protects running Modern agents and pending questions as well as terminals, including hidden agents. Cancel keeps their work running.
- Worktree agents start in their provisioned worktree rather than the source checkout, and threads use the clearer “Worktree” label.
- Windows provider startup and CLI installation handle command wrappers and executable resolution correctly.
- Pi extension prompts respect timeouts, support number-key selection, and handle oversized content. Follow-up work from extensions stays in the same turn, and unreadable images produce an explanation.
- Slow conversation reads retry once before showing a timeout banner.
- Provider approval and permission changes apply consistently to new and resumed turns, including Plan transitions.
- Queued prompts, attachments, and answer drafts retain their content across navigation and recovery.
- Uploaded images and files are copied to the selected remote host before dispatch, so remote agents receive readable paths.
- Voice retry preserves the recording and original submission without duplicating transcript text.
- Conversation message links, search results, browser download authorization, and browser recovery behave more consistently.
- Provider shutdown and oversized output recovery clean up owned resources without losing later valid messages.
- ACP agents keep their default model when launched as CLI Agents.
- Timed-out Job Team blockers escalate to the coordinator, survive restarts, and can be recovered safely when all work is read-only.
- Modern owner threads wait for their provider to register before starting, avoiding a startup race.
2.3.3
What's new in 2.3.3
Bring your Zana projects into Slack, with a more responsive desktop and more reliable remote connections. Zana 2.3.3 includes the Slack plugin, working PDF previews, easier project editor actions, and the latest remote-host recovery fixes.
New
- Zana for Slack is included. Connect your projects to Slack, start agents, follow their progress, and continue conversations from Slack threads. Choose which project answers and plugin tools to share.
- A private report Inbox in Slack. Opt in to view reports from the projects you have allowed, open their documents, and keep replies in the same conversation.
Improved
- Remote connection repair. Fix connection in the remote CLI composer repairs disconnected hosts through the active Zana Connect service. When a remote machine cannot reach public HTTPS, Zana can transfer its host runtime and reconnect through SSH while preserving its identity.
- Open projects in your editor. Editor actions are available from both the project sidebar menu and the focused project's menu.
- A more responsive desktop. Terminal output, conversation history, searches, editor loading, and agent views do less unnecessary work while projects are busy.
- Agent and plugin startup. Worker-backed providers finish resolving their launch options before execution starts. Bundled plugin assets and startup checks are more reliable in packaged builds.
Fixed
- Remote CLI model discovery reports the connection problem and offers a repair action when its host is disconnected.
- PDF previews preserve the original file bytes, render correctly, and offer working download actions.
- Terminal commands, remote shell output, and plugin communication avoid several causes of stalled or frozen sessions.
- Project views refresh consistently as agents work and finish, and filesystem watchers avoid unnecessary work in nested repositories.
2.3.1
What's new in 2.3.1
More ways to follow your agents and build your own plugins. Zana 2.3.1 adds Agent City, shared contextual help, and a smoother path from local plugin development to a marketplace submission. This release also adds Windows x64 installer builds and improves desktop, phone, and remote conversations.
New
- Agent City. Install the Agent City plugin for another way to see your running agents. Enter project buildings to inspect agents and schedule plans, follow harness-colored commuters, and return to the same view after navigation. Search keeps building populations and positions stable. Plugins can now contribute views to the Agents screen alongside the existing views.
- Help where you need it. Turn on contextual help from desktop or mobile to see guidance for the controls you are using. The same preference applies across both layouts.
- Prepare a plugin submission. Installed local plugins can prepare a marketplace submission draft, with validation guidance and updated authoring documentation.
- Windows x64 builds. The desktop release pipeline now builds a Windows installer alongside the Apple Silicon and Intel Mac packages.
Improved
- Local plugin development. Zana keeps the build tools needed by authored plugins, refreshes development panels after changes, and reports build failures more clearly.
- Long conversations and busy projects. Conversation history, terminal output, Inbox reads, and Tasks lists do less unnecessary work as they grow. Hidden terminals avoid resizing during navigation, and editors load when needed.
- Phone conversations. More stable chat scrolling and swipe-to-close navigation make it easier to move between agents. Task headings retain their intended size on mobile.
- Remote installation and recovery. Machine setup uses a clearer installation panel, and packaged builds include the installer needed to repair a remote connection.
- Slack conversations. Remote conversation presentation follows its controlling surface, and thread replies can use plain text for more readable conversations. App Home shows your connected machines, and generated diagrams can appear in their conversation and Canvas.
Fixed
-
Packaged providers load prebuilt runtimes without requiring development dependencies. Failed providers retain their identity and show recovery guidance in Plugins.
-
Windows startup handles directory flushing correctly, native-module smoke checks work in Electron’s main process, and CLI/plugin controls connect through Windows named pipes.
-
Project explorers stay bound to their registered target, and agent-board project groups remain stable when cards close.
-
Provider tools and session labels use ZCC branding while existing session files and older bridge bundles remain readable.
-
Large phone uploads stay connected while the desktop catches up.
-
Provider frames, recordings, subprocess output, and uploads stay bounded, and child-process resources are released when their work ends.
-
Thread refresh continues while work is running and picks up the final output.
-
Fast first turns stay idle when session startup finishes after their response.
-
Background browser automation keeps its pages hidden instead of bringing an unrelated conversation's preview to the foreground.
2.3.0
What's new in 2.3.0
You can now use Zana from your phone. Open your personal Zana address in your mobile browser to start conversations with agents, follow their work, and read and reply to Inbox reports. It works over Wi-Fi or cellular, with no app to install. Your agents continue running on your computer.
Zana 2.3.0 also brings simpler mobile navigation and more reliable conversations. Long threads open with less unnecessary work, model lists recover from temporary failures, and Inbox replies return to the original conversation.

New
- Zana Connect accounts. Click Remote access in the bottom-left, get a connect code through GitHub, choose your Zana address, and paste the code into Zana. Open that address in Safari on your iPhone, sign in with the same GitHub account, and choose Open Zana.
- A simpler mobile home. Find all your agents in one searchable menu, with project labels, live working indicators, and clear attention states. New agent, Inbox, and Agents are close at hand; More opens a searchable picker for your other tools and plugins.
- Phone setup guidance. Phone settings walks you through browser access. The native mobile app is marked as coming soon.
- Canvas on mobile. Choose Kanban, List, or Canvas from Agents. Opening an agent gives its thread or terminal the screen.
- Attach screenshots from your phone. Choose images, preview or remove them, and send them with your message.
- Refresh models without restarting. Settings → AI Harness adds Recalculate models, and the command palette adds Refresh models. Both update the model lists used by Modern and CLI Agents, with progress and failure feedback.
Improved
- More room for conversations. Mobile agents use one header row. Menus and side panels fill the screen, with clear close and back controls. Long sent messages have a compact preview with Show more, and desktop git/review strips stay out of the mobile composer.
- A composer built for touch. Larger harness and model pickers, an expanded writing view, and readily accessible Edit/Full access controls make it easier to configure and send a message. Secondary run settings use a clearer layout.
- Inbox and documents on small screens. Cleaner inbox rows and detail actions reduce clutter. Inbox videos play inline with playback and seeking controls. Selecting a Library document opens a full-width reading view with a way back to the list. Scheduler, Tasks, and PR Monitor also use more compact mobile layouts.
- Steadier mobile navigation. Agent lists keep their order as work progresses and hide ended agents. Swipe right or use Close to dismiss an agent, and return to Agents in one tap. The project picker supports touch scrolling and stays usable with the phone keyboard open.
- Settings and navigation. Search stays available as you scroll the menu. Settings has a consistent return path, and Share, Reload, and This device are tucked into the menu's actions.
- Remote connection recovery. Relay connections use heartbeats and reconnect after interruptions.
- Modern threads in the menu bar. The desktop menu bar popover includes Modern threads alongside CLI Agents.
- Salesforce project creation. Create a Salesforce project after signing into an org, with the project and org connection kept together.
- Git marketplace sources. Add supported Git repository catalogs when browsing and installing plugins.
- Inspectors keep your chosen size. Agent and thread inspectors remember their resized dimensions and scale with the app window. Docs cards open beside the visible conversation, including inside inspectors and split panes.
- Clearer diagnostics. Bounded, credential-redacted logs record background-service failures and identify the running build to help diagnose installation and recovery problems.
Fixed
- Conversation loading. Messages appear as soon as the timeline is available, without waiting for slower thread metadata. Collapsed command and tool rows load their full output when expanded, reducing work when opening large conversations.
- Model-list recovery. Temporary discovery failures retry automatically. Reconnecting a machine or returning after a login or configuration change refreshes stale lists, while the last successful list stays visible during refresh. Newly discovered models are also available to launch checks.
- Inbox opens the original thread. Open and reply actions return to the conversation that created a report, including archived threads. Replies and structured answers no longer fall back to a replacement CLI Agent when the original is a Modern thread.
- Codex Send now and Stop. Commands use the provider's active turn identity, fixing rejected queued-message sends and interruptions caused by mismatched turn IDs.
- Browser previews in inspectors. Loaded websites display correctly inside agent inspectors, and Reload or resubmitting the current address refreshes them. Reopening an equivalent preview reuses its tab when the browser profile and control permissions allow it.
- Background-service recovery. If a desktop service stops unexpectedly, Zana offers a restart and reports unavailable operations promptly. A failed project lookup no longer appears as an empty project list. Restarting remains an explicit action because it ends surviving agents.
- Remote daemon updates. Updates validate the replacement before switching versions and roll back if startup fails. Installation and repair check process ownership, and reconnects restore the correct connected status.
- Upload progress. The upload indicator sits inside the composer with a spinner and consistent spacing.
- Mobile panel themes. Agent side panels and diffs follow the app's light or dark theme.
- Voice authentication. Voice input recognizes the desktop's supported Codex sign-in storage instead of incorrectly asking an already signed-in user to log in again.
- Plugin installation recovery. Failed plugin replacements roll back cleanly, and Tasks styles stay contained within the plugin.
- Background AI configuration. Thread naming and summaries honor the configured Claude executable after settings migration.
- Dependency hardening. Updated transitive HTML-sanitization and UUID dependencies and added bounded handling for malformed URI decoding.
Keep your computer awake and online, with Zana running. The walkthrough uses Safari on iPhone; no app installation is needed. The native mobile app is coming soon. Remote access uses Zana Connect, whose service operator can inspect relayed traffic.
2.2.2
What's new in 2.2.2
Zana 2.2.2 brings a live browser preview and a fuller Agentforce Studio. Threads keep their models and previews steadier as you move between projects, and the website now uses the Fairy identity.
New
- Browser preview. The Browser Automation plugin can show a live headless browser preview beside the thread.
- Agentforce Studio. Studio adds action authoring, an org login flow, draft recovery, and Save as, so an unsaved script survives tab switches and can be written as a new file when the original changed on disk.
Improved
- Composer models stay put. The model list remains available when you switch projects or hosts.
- Thread previews and activity. File previews and activity labels stay aligned with the conversation as the thread updates.
- Project settings. Settings navigation opens the matching project section instead of dropping you on a generic page.
- Docs plugin. The Docs plugin stays available through its install and enable lifecycle.
- Website. The public site is redesigned around the Fairy identity, with matching architecture and plugin artwork.
Fixed
- Sticky inbox actions. Inbox row actions no longer stick to the wrong item after the feed updates.
- Changes panel colors. The Changes workbench follows the active theme, including light mode.
macOS downloads are provided for Apple Silicon (*-arm64.dmg) and Intel (*-x64.dmg).
2.2.1
What's new in 2.2.1
Zana 2.2.1 sharpens the live conversation workflow: approvals are easier to scan, the Changes panel becomes a full workbench, side-panel media previews are more reliable, agent input status is clearer, and the refreshed Zana brand assets are ready across the app and website.
New
- Refreshed Zana identity. The app, tray, website, social previews, Stream Deck glyphs, and generated icon resources now use the updated Zana fairy artwork and favicon set.
- Video previews in session panels. Thread side panels can preview local video attachments through the product HTTP range reader, including CLI-agent workspace files.
- Changes workbench. The thread Changes panel now has a searchable file navigator, branch context, display options, and an in-panel commit flow for reviewed project diffs.
- Input-request lifecycle tracking. Codex
request_user_inputhooks now mark sessions as blocked while the agent is waiting and clear that status when input resolves or the turn is interrupted. - Demo and brand artifacts. Product demo, simulated demo, compact approval, and brand-preview artifacts are captured for local review and sharing.
Improved
- Approval prompts are more compact. Command approvals now show the command first, keep session grants visible, and tuck secondary metadata into a collapsible details block.
- Thread side-panel polish. File and video preview tabs preserve layout more consistently across narrow and secondary-panel views.
- Diff review scales better. Large changed-file lists can be browsed as a tree or list, selected files scroll into view, and compact toolbar controls keep the panel usable at narrow widths.
- App-surface requests behave predictably. JSON API helpers set content type for mutation requests even when the request body is omitted.
- Agent status recovery is steadier. Conversation host recovery and agent status tests cover blocked, unblocked, and pending-input transitions more directly.
Fixed
- CLI-agent video paths resolve correctly. Video preview requests can fall back to the registered project path when a side panel is opened from a CLI-agent session id.
- Codex hook notifications carry lifecycle context. Permission, tool-use, and interrupt hooks now forward event bodies so unrelated output does not clear a real pending input request.
- Reported UI regressions. The thread lifecycle and compact approval E2E coverage now guards the reported layout regressions in approvals, secondary panels, and video previews.
macOS downloads are provided for Apple Silicon (*-arm64.dmg) and Intel (*-x64.dmg). Video preview support depends on the file being inside an authorized project or thread-storage root.
2.2.0
What's new in 2.2.0
Zana 2.2.0 brings your Inbox, diffs, and connected tools alongside agent conversations. It adds Agentforce Code, expands the Salesforce workbench, and makes it easier to find and return to active work.
✨ New
- Agentforce Code. Use an ACP-enabled
afcodeinstallation in Modern threads or launch its native CLI Agent. Choose the executable in Settings and use its existing authentication. This first release supports local CLI launches; ACP history, plans, and host-tool access depend on afcode's current capabilities. - Inbox beside your conversation. Open a project's Inbox in the session side panel to read reports, inspect attached documents, and answer questions while keeping the conversation in view. Shared report rendering includes copy and PDF export.
- Salesforce workbench. The Salesforce project tab brings together Overview, Data, Apex & logs, Deployments, and Agentforce. Choose a target org per project, retain query and form drafts, and revisit recent operation results.
- Salesforce side panels. Open org details, SOQL, objects, records, Apex/logs, deployments, and operation history beside Modern threads and CLI Agents. Panels can pin their own org, and selected evidence can be added to the prompt. Plugin authors can reuse these panels and UI components.
- Full-page sessions and in-app shells. Open CLI Agents and threads as full pages, and let agents open visible shell terminals inside Zana.
💬 Improved
- A clearer Inbox. Report details use a focused reading layout, compact session status, and a docked reply area with Open, Resume, or Reopen actions.
- Faster navigation. The command palette searches commands, projects, and threads, while Favorites and Notifications use a consistent quick-access layout.
- A more useful new-tab page. Session side panels group essentials, plugin tools, and files into searchable categories. Plugins can name their own panel categories.
- Diffs in tree or list form. Switch between a file tree and a flat list with inline diff previews when reviewing agent changes.
- Better model search. Model pickers rank substring and segment matches so partial names are easier to find.
- More control on the Agents board. See the running-schedule count, hide scheduled sessions consistently, and close eligible CLI Agents from a lane's context menu.
- Marketplace browsing. Filter plugins by marketplace source and load catalogs from supported GitHub repository URLs.
🐛 Fixed
- Thread permissions persist. Follow-up messages, queued sends, resumed sessions, and forks retain the thread's selected permission mode within the host's allowed policy.
- Queued messages respect startup. A second message stays queued while the first dispatch is starting, and queue changes update the thread view immediately.
- Project navigation stays in context. Leaving a focused project returns to the appropriate global view; opening an inspector no longer unexpectedly changes project scope.
- Split dragging does not also open a session. The click that starts a split-pane drag is consumed.
- Team launches are checked before dispatch. Admission checks catch unsupported launch requirements before workers start.
- Agent write scopes resolve correctly. Relative paths are resolved against the session's working directory, and paths escaping that directory are rejected.
- Document preview keeps its place. Opening a Markdown file in the session side panel no longer jumps back to the top when the thread receives new content.
- One git summary in Info. When commit and PR controls are present, the Info tab no longer repeats branch, status, files, and pull request rows.
- PR Monitor clicks and details stay usable. Board cards open details instead of panning the canvas, failed row actions show a toast, and the details dialog keeps keyboard focus.
macOS downloads are provided for Apple Silicon (*-arm64.dmg) and Intel (*-x64.dmg). Agentforce Code requires an ACP-enabled installation for Modern threads. Salesforce tools require the Salesforce CLI and an authenticated org.
