Right now this is just untested vibeware from GPT-5.5 xhigh, prompted with the original discussions in #2 + #5, and given a copy of the gdm + gnome-shell trees to examine.
Even if this does work, I'm not sure we really want to inherit this kind of insanity and surface area for critical security bugs.
... Then again, I'd really like to go back to dogfooding phrog on my Silverblue laptop+desktop, and this is absolutely a prerequisite for that.
