This Python based command line tool is used to mask personally identifiable information (PII) within MySQL databases. The program inserts rows of masked data into a separate specified server database or table. Depending on the number of columns, masking 1M rows should take ~4 minutes.

Testing Instructions

1. Download all files source code and unzip. Open CMD/Terminal and navigate to the downloaded folder.
2. Install pip requirements:

python3 -m pip install -r requirements.txt

3. Create config JSON
   Type the name of each field from the input database table that you want to be masked and choose which masking method.

python3 IrisDataMasker.py setup config.json

5. Mask some data
   You can use the test database which has approx. 1000 records of fake sensitive data to practice masking.
   Message me for login details.

python3 IrisDataMasker.py mask hackcamp.hopto.org:HackCampSensitive:user hackcamp.hopto.org:HackCampMasked:user config.json

or you can use your own mySQL DB

python3 IrisDataMasker.py mask [hostname]:[database]:[table] [hostname]:[database]:[table] config.json

6. If the records fail to write, the HackCampMasked database may already have records in it. You can use the debug clean command to remove them. WARNING: THIS REMOVES ALL RECORDS FROM THE TABLE
