Samlu 0.2.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 05 Oct 18:31

Samlu 0.2.1 for macOS - a universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel.

Install

  1. Download the .dmg below and open it.
  2. Drag Samlu into your Applications folder.
  3. Launch it. Samlu lives in the menu bar, not the Dock.

Important

This build is not signed with an Apple Developer ID, so macOS
quarantines it on download and will refuse to open it. Clear the
quarantine flag once, after moving the app to Applications:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Samlu.app

On macOS 15 and later this is required - the old right-click
"Open" workaround no longer bypasses Gatekeeper.

Because each unsigned build carries a different ad-hoc signature,
macOS treats an update as a new app: you will need to re-grant
Microphone and Accessibility access after upgrading.

Permissions Samlu asks for

Permission Why
Microphone Recording dictation. Audio stays on the Mac with on-device engines (Whisper, Apple) or goes only to the chosen cloud provider.
Accessibility Inserting the result back into the field you were typing in.

Both are requested on first use and can be revoked in System Settings -> Privacy & Security.

Requirements

  • macOS 11 Big Sur or later
  • An API key is needed only for cloud engines (stored in your Keychain)

What's Changed

  • Soft voice capsule, console redesign, and overlays that follow the focused display by @samreshan in #2

Full Changelog: v0.2.0...v0.2.1
