Docs for Jharicast: weather and road rules for a route, per day, from global models and official Nepali warnings, in .NET.

Not an official forecast. Always follow the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) and the District Administration Office. Jharicast never says a route is safe: its best answer, Pass, means only that none of your rules is broken.

Status: alpha. Jharicast, Jharicast.Fetch, Jharicast.OpenMeteo and Jharicast.Routing are on nuget.org as 0.1.0-alpha.2 (dotnet add package Jharicast --prerelease). Jharicast.Nepal and Jharicast.Cli wait for the agencies' permission. The examples on these pages are from the repository's tests and README, at the current main.

What it answers

Give it a route (legs with a start, an end and a date) and it gives, per leg and day:

  • each of four rules as Pass, Watch, Breach or Unknown, with a reason;
  • the districts the road crosses and DHM's level for each on that date;
  • every number it used, which model or agency it came from, and when;
  • the health of every source, so a missing input is shown, not hidden.

Run it again later and AssessmentDiff.Compare(previous, current) returns only the status changes, which is what a trip watcher should notify about.

Pages

Packages

Package What it does
Jharicast The rules, ensemble statistics and change detection. No I/O, no dependencies.
Jharicast.Fetch Polite HTTP: robots.txt, per-host intervals, retries, circuit breaker, snapshots, source health.
Jharicast.OpenMeteo Forecast, ensemble and elevation clients.
Jharicast.Routing OSRM routes sampled every 5 km, hill sections, district lookup.
Jharicast.Nepal Districts, towns, DHM, BIPAD and DoR sources, NepalRouteAssessor. Held back from nuget.org until the agencies answer the permission request.

The data belongs to its owners, not to Jharicast; the terms and the credit each one needs are in the README.
