Ergo 6.0.5 improves reliability and day-to-day use on Windows.
What changed
-
Safer backlog updates on Windows. Log compaction now uses Windows' native write-through replacement operation. If another process reads the backlog during replacement, it sees either the complete old file or the complete new file—not a partial update.
-
Correct handling of Windows line endings. Ergo now reads CRLF backlog files without treating the carriage return as part of an event.
-
Clearer explanations for waiting tasks. A todo task returned by
ergo list --jsonnow names the unfinished tasks it is waiting for:{ "state": "todo", "ready": false, "waiting_on": ["ABC123"] }Existing JSON fields and terminal output are unchanged, so current integrations remain compatible.
-
A complete native Windows validation path. Contributors can now validate the CLI, PowerShell workflows, and the VS Code extension with one documented Windows command.
-
More direct Windows installation guidance. The documentation leads with WinGet and provides the release archive as a fallback while the community package completes review.
-
Safer releases. Release checks catch outdated installation links and prevent publishing a version whose major number does not match Ergo's Go module path.
