v0.1.0

Stability: Alpha

These notes describe the v0.1.0 release contents. This is Loopwire's first public alpha: it is suitable for evaluation
and guarded experimentation, not yet a stable audio-routing contract. Configuration formats, backend behavior, and
packaging may change as the alpha matures.

Artifact, package-channel, and compatibility claims are accepted
only after the tagged release workflow publishes signed checksums, final release proof passes, and support-matrix
evidence is promoted from verified VM bundles.

Supported In Source

  • Contributor source install with pnpm install and pnpm check.
  • VitePress documentation site with install, backend, configuration, support-matrix, VM, and release ceremony docs.
  • Svelte/Tauri desktop shell with native window chrome where available and custom chrome fallback controls.
  • Persistent configurations with active-configuration restore, import/export, duplicate/delete, and startup verification.
  • Source, output, and monitor pickers that update app-runtime routing state without mutating host audio in preview mode.
  • Route gain and mute controls with backend semantics shown as graph-edge, stream-level, link-only, or planned.
  • Backend detection for PipeWire, PulseAudio compatibility, JACK availability, and ALSA playback/capture visibility.
  • PulseAudio-compatible stream discovery, playback-sink discovery, null-sink routing, stream-level gain/mute, monitor
loopbacks, and physical monitor sink targets through guarded pactl calls.
  • Native PipeWire virtual output sink creation through guarded pw-cli create-node adapter calls, plus existing-port
link, verify, unlink, and rollback through guarded pw-link calls.
  • Native PipeWire virtual monitor sink creation through the same guarded pw-cli create-node adapter path.
  • Desktop Host apply control that keeps live host mutation explicit and session-local.
  • Desktop sidebar start-on-boot control for user-scoped XDG autostart status, enable, and disable.
  • Local release artifact packaging, checksum signing, installer smoke, AUR metadata smoke, Nix flake package-template
smoke, VM target metadata validation, and VM evidence bundle verification.
  • VitePress public /install.sh endpoint plumbing, synchronized with the canonical installer script.

Install Channels

Channel v0.1.0 readiness
Source checkout Supported for contributors after pnpm install and pnpm check.
Signed curl installer Uses published v0.1.0 artifacts, checksums, signature, and public key.
AppImage Built and published by the tagged release workflow.
Ubuntu 24.04 / Debian 13 deb Matching-guest KVM proof passed; publication still requires the tagged workflow.
Fedora 44 / openSUSE Tumbleweed RPM Matching-guest KVM proof passed; publication still requires the tagged workflow.
AUR loopwire-bin Metadata smoke exists; package publication depends on tagged artifacts.
Nix flake Package template exists; final release proof requires real hashes plus Nix build proof.

Compatibility Evidence

  • Read-only host detection currently reports Linux backend candidates through project scripts and the desktop Tauri
    command bridge.
  • VM target metadata covers Arch/Hyprland, Fedora/KDE, Ubuntu/GNOME, Debian/Xfce, NixOS/GNOME, and Fedora/Sway.
  • Support-matrix rows remain Manual VM until an operator captures, verifies, and promotes real
    .vm/evidence/<target> bundles.
  • Native package proof is separately recorded under vm/native-package-proof/ for Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13, Fedora 44,
and openSUSE Tumbleweed. It proves package behavior, not a desktop/audio-stack support row.

Known Limitations

  • packaging/release-signing-public.pem contains the project release public key, and the tagged release workflow
    requires the matching LOOPWIRE_RELEASE_PRIVATE_KEY secret.
  • Bunny.net docs deployment requires BUNNY_STORAGE_ZONE, BUNNY_ACCESS_KEY, and BUNNY_PULL_ZONE_HOSTNAME
    repository secrets.
  • JACK bridge virtual ports, published AArch64 release proof, and true graph-edge DSP/mixing remain planned.
  • Live host apply requires the Tauri desktop runtime; browser preview fails closed without host mutation.

Release Readiness Checks

Keep this page aligned with the release ceremony:

pnpm verify:release-readiness -- --repo sandwichfarm/loopwire --tag v0.1.0
pnpm check
pnpm verify:docs
pnpm verify:vm

The readiness preflight verifies release notes, signing material, docs deployment wiring, final proof wiring, GitHub
secrets, tag state, and a clean checkout before publication.
