A design release: same book, rebuilt to read better on screen and in print.

  • Typography. The book now sets in IBM Plex — Serif for body text, Sans for headings and tables, Mono for code. The fonts are vendored in the repository, so the PDF renders identically on every machine and in CI; the build fails loudly if one goes missing rather than falling back silently.
  • Palette. Warm neutrals with an orange accent, defined as tokens. Colour marks structure (titles, rules, the trace band) and marks what the reader must act on (labs and questions). Pages stay white for contrast.
  • Diagrams. Sequence diagrams are re-themed to match the book. The semantic flowchart palette is deepened and warmed, keeping six distinguishable role colours; the palest one's label contrast improves from about 2.6:1 to 4.4:1.

Two editions attached: the full book, and a candidate edition with model answers stripped for self-testing.
