v0.7.2 — Nebulynk 0.7.2
Notifies attendees when meeting summaries are ready, restores source-channel cards for scheduled meetings, introduces fixed-version container images with runtime frontend configuration, and updates vulnerable dependencies.
- feature: Meeting summary notifications — Attendees receive a notification when a meeting summary first becomes ready. Opening the notification goes directly to the summary, and viewing a ready summary marks its notifications read. Editing or regenerating a summary does not send another completion notification; existing summaries do not trigger historical notifications during upgrade.
- fix: Scheduled meeting cards appear when the meeting starts — Starting a scheduled meeting creates its card in the source channel at the actual start time, including when a guest starts the meeting. Card creation retries after temporary failures without undoing a successful meeting start or creating duplicate cards. Existing channel access rules remain in force; historical meetings are not backfilled.
- feature: Prebuilt release images for self-hosting — Official backend, frontend, and transcription-worker images support Linux AMD64 and ARM64 and share one fixed release version. Self-Hosting, Coolify, Dokploy, and Plesk deployments pull these images. Release assets record their immutable digests, and Plesk validates and downloads the selected images before switching the installation. Source-build overrides remain available for custom builds and branch testing.
- improvement: Configure the frontend when its container starts — Set public API, socket, LiveKit, Web Push, and CSRF-cookie configuration without rebuilding the frontend image. Canonical environment variables take precedence over compatible VITE aliases, and invalid required configuration stops startup. The frontend runs without root privileges and supports a read-only filesystem; HTML and runtime configuration are served without caching.
- fix: Clearer recording and transcription banner — Recording and transcription indicators use consistent theme colors for clearer text and status badges in light and dark mode.
- security: Dependency security updates — Updates sharp to 0.35.5, Vue and its server renderer to 3.5.43, and source-map-js to 1.2.2. These updates address upstream image-decoding, server-rendering, and source-map advisories. The Vue advisory concerns server-side rendering; Nebulynk renders its application in the browser.
Security advisories
- HIGH (<0.7.2) — Updates sharp and its bundled librsvg to address a use-after-free vulnerability when decoding crafted SVG images. Upstream describes possible code execution under specific Linux runtime conditions; this does not establish exploitability in every Nebulynk deployment.
- HIGH (<0.7.2) — Updates the Vue server-renderer dependency to address attribute-name validation that can permit cross-site scripting in server-rendered HTML. The vulnerable rendering path is not used by Nebulynk's browser-rendered application.
- HIGH (<0.7.2) — Updates the source-map-js build dependency to prevent excessive indexed source-map offsets from blocking the event loop. This concerns source-map processing rather than ordinary Nebulynk chat requests.
Upgrade steps
- Before updating, create and verify external backups of PostgreSQL, both Garage volumes, and deployment configuration and secrets. Keep the existing persistent volumes. When upgrading from a version before 0.7.0, also review recording-retention and transcription-worker guidance: the default 60-day retention may delete eligible older recordings at startup.
- Review the deployment files and container guide from the v0.7.2 tag before switching a source-built installation to images. Keep the existing Compose project or platform resource and volume mappings. Confirm the PostgreSQL database, storage, and resolved public API/socket URLs refer to the intended installation. Set NEBULYNK_VERSION=0.7.2 and deploy backend, frontend, and transcription-worker together. The standalone Compose files require Docker Compose 2.23.1 or newer; Plesk remains Linux x86-64 only.
- Configure the frontend's public API_URL at container startup; compatible VITE aliases remain supported. Check existing API_URL, BACKEND_URL, and their VITE aliases for stale overrides before recreating the frontend. Recreate affected containers after changing environment values so the new runtime configuration is applied.
- Stop the old backend completely before starting its replacement and allow at least 75 seconds for shutdown. Startup applies migrations 076_meeting_summary_notifications and 077_meeting_source_messages automatically. Wait for GET /health/ready and the worker health check to pass before reopening access.
- After updating, verify login, recent chat history, uploads, a newly started scheduled meeting's source-channel card, and the first completion notification for a new meeting summary. Existing summaries and historical scheduled meetings are not backfilled. Check the frontend's rendered runtime configuration and API target when adopting the prebuilt images.
