VSoftSol Syslog Manager v1.1.2
Two downloads: one to update, one for a new installation
- New installation:
VSoftSolSyslogManagerInstall-1.1.2.exe(about 118 MB). Installs the ASP.NET Core 8 Hosting Bundle for you if it is missing, then the product. The prerequisite is built in, so it works on a server with no internet access. - Update:
VSoftSolSyslogManagerUpdate-1.1.2.msi(about 12 MB). Installs over an existing install and keeps your database, certificate and settings. Needs the Hosting Bundle already present, which any existing install has.
Either file can do the other's job where the prerequisite is already present. The application itself is unchanged from v1.1.1.
Also in this release
- The product version is now defined in one place, so the installer and the bundle cannot disagree.
Verify your download
The installers are not code-signed yet, so Windows may show "Unknown publisher". Compare the SHA-256 shown on each asset below with your file: certutil -hashfile <file> SHA256.
Upgrading: run the Update file as Administrator over your existing install. Full notes: docs/RELEASE_NOTES.md and docs/ADMIN_GUIDE.md in the repository.
VSoftSol Syslog Manager v1.1.1
What's new
- Self-update check (opt-in, off by default). Settings -> Updates can periodically check this repository for a newer signed release, download it, and verify its signature and hash. Nothing installs itself - you download the verified installer and run it as Administrator.
- Fixed: Settings -> Config bundles -> Export returned an error page. Also fixed the same underlying bug in every "Run now" report download and in the first-run "Waiting for messages" page's auto-advance poll.
- Fixed: the installer's .NET Runtime check could never pass. Every fresh install reported the ASP.NET Core Hosting Bundle as missing even when installed. Download this build and it now passes correctly.
- Internal version number now matches the release tag (previously still reported 1.0.0).
Install
Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit). Requires the ASP.NET Core 8 Hosting Bundle. Run VSoftSolSyslogManagerSetup-1.1.1.msi as Administrator - upgrades an existing install in place, preserving your database and settings.
