Dragon's Crown Pro PC Port v0.6.0

Adds support for the Japanese and Asia / Hong Kong PS4 releases, Aspect Ratio options, local offline PS4 Trophies and Traditional Chinese text for the Asia / Hong Kong build. This is an unofficial fan-made port, not affiliated with or endorsed by Vanillaware, Atlus, SEGA, Sony Interactive Entertainment or any other rights holder.

No game files are included. You need your own legally obtained Dragon's Crown Pro PS4 package.

Highlights

  • More regions: the US build plus the Japanese (CUSA07001 1.00, 1.02, 1.03) and Asia / Hong Kong (CUSA10209 1.00, 1.02) PS4 releases
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Original, 16:10, 21:9 Ultrawide, 32:9 Super Ultrawide, 4:3 and 5:4
  • Local PS4 Trophies: tracked offline on your PC and shown on a new Trophies page of the launcher
  • Traditional Chinese text for the Asia / Hong Kong build, using the bundled Noto Sans TC font
  • Fixes and compatibility improvements

Supported builds

Build Title ID Versions
USA CUSA10454 1.00 (APP_VER 01.00, version 01.03)
Japan CUSA07001 1.00 (base package), 1.02 and 1.03 (each installed over the 1.00 base package)
Asia / Hong Kong CUSA10209 1.00 and 1.02

The launcher checks the package's Title ID, Content ID and versions before it unpacks anything, and the eboot.bin hash before it installs the result. Any other version is refused. Each build is installed into its own folder, and the one you installed last is the one that starts. The Japanese and Asia / Hong Kong builds are less tested than the US one; their cheats and Xbox controller prompts are not available.

Aspect Ratio

  • A new Aspect Ratio drop-down on the Display page. It sets the shape of the game's render target; the Render resolution sets its height and the width follows the ratio. The picture is never stretched: it is letterboxed or pillarboxed in the window. 16:9 Original is the default and leaves the game exactly as before.
  • The Window size choices follow the selected ratio.
  • Camera framing, the HUD and prerendered videos are not adapted, so wider or narrower shapes can show cropped or exposed areas and bars on videos. Targets above 3840 × 2160 pixels are reduced in height (for example 32:9 at 4K renders at 5408 × 1520).
  • Applies at start. On the Japanese and Asia / Hong Kong builds the render sizes are not yet tested in the game.

Local Trophies

  • The game's PlayStation 4 trophies are tracked locally and offline on this PC: no PSN connection, no account, no sync. Progress is saved in user\trophy.
  • The new Trophies page (after Controls) shows your progress, the Platinum / Gold / Silver / Bronze totals and each trophy's icon, name, description and grade. Hidden trophies stay hidden until unlocked.
  • The trophy list and icons come from your own game package. The list is encrypted there, so it needs a Trophy Key, which this port does not include, generate or download. Enter your own key on the Trophies page, or import it from a shadPS4 keys.json or config.toml. It is stored only in user\keys.json and is never shown again. Without a key the game still records your unlocks, and the page shows them once a key works.
  • There is no in-game "Trophy unlocked" notification yet. On Linux, importing a key file needs zenity or kdialog; otherwise type the key in.

Traditional Chinese text (Asia / Hong Kong)

The Asia / Hong Kong build asks the console for its Chinese system font, which a PC does not have. It now uses the bundled Noto Sans TC (SIL Open Font License) instead of showing empty boxes. Simplified-only characters outside that font are not covered. Korean and some symbol characters may still not display.

Other fixes and improvements

  • Reinstalling a game that is already installed now really reinstalls it instead of reporting it as up to date.
  • Installing a Japanese update no longer risks touching a folder that is not this port's own.
  • A render-resolution patch that does not match the game now stops the game cleanly instead of faulting.
  • The Platinum trophy follows the trophies linked to it.
  • Linux: the tools/build.sh --test path now also runs the trophy and save-data tests.

Known limitations

  • Online multiplayer is not implemented.
  • Cheats and Xbox controller prompts work on the US build only.
  • The Japanese and Asia / Hong Kong builds are not fully tested in game.
  • Aspect Ratio does not adapt camera, HUD or videos.
  • No in-game trophy notification yet.
  • The Linux / Steam Deck AppImage is still experimental.

DragonsCrownProPC-v0.6.0-x86_64.AppImage Experimental: Linux x86-64 and Steam Deck

Installing

Windows

  1. Extract DragonsCrownProPC-v0.6.0-windows-x64.zip anywhere you can write to and run dcp-loader.exe. The launcher opens.
  2. On the Play page click Install game... and select your own Dragon's Crown Pro .pkg file (for a Japanese update, install the 1.00 base package first).
  3. Wait for Ready to play, then press PLAY.

Linux and Steam Deck (experimental)

  1. Make DragonsCrownProPC-v0.6.0-x86_64.AppImage executable (chmod +x, or right-click > Properties > Permissions) and run it. The launcher opens.
  2. On the Play page click Install game... and select your own .pkg file, then press PLAY when Ready to play appears.

When updating, keep your user folder (and game, to skip reinstalling). The game files of v0.5.0 are recognised: a US install made with v0.5.0 keeps working. An AppImage needs FUSE 2; without it, run it with --appimage-extract-and-run.

Requirements

  • Windows: Windows 10 (version 1903 or newer) or Windows 11, 64-bit
  • Linux (experimental): 64-bit Linux on x86-64 or a Steam Deck, on an X11 or Wayland desktop, with glibc 2.31 or newer
  • A graphics card and driver with Vulkan 1.3, VK_EXT_robustness2, VK_KHR_push_descriptor and VK_EXT_vertex_attribute_divisor
  • About 6 GB of free disk space per installed build
  • Your own decrypted PS4 package of one of the supported builds above. Any other version is refused.

The Windows release is not digitally signed, so Windows SmartScreen may warn on first run: choose More info, then Run anyway.

Reporting problems

If the game does not start or crashes, please open an issue and attach the newest dragons_crown_pro_*.log file from the logs folder next to the program, with a line about what you were doing. Do not attach user\keys.json.

Dragon's Crown Pro PC Port v0.5.0

Choose a tag to compare

@saulob saulob released this 16 Oct 23:40

Dragon's Crown Pro PC Port v0.5.0

Fixes the corrupted message text at high render resolutions, and adds an Experience Multiplier cheat, a better windowed start-up, an auto-hiding fullscreen cursor and an optional render resolution in the window title. This is an unofficial fan-made port, not affiliated with or endorsed by Vanillaware, Atlus, SEGA, Sony Interactive Entertainment or any other rights holder.

No game files are included. You need your own legally obtained Dragon's Crown Pro PS4 package.

Highlights

  • Fixed corrupted message and dialog text at 1440p, 1800p and 4K render resolutions
  • New Experience Multiplier cheat: Off, 2x, 5x or 10x
  • Infinite Arrows now refills your arrows to 10 as soon as it is turned on
  • Fullscreen mouse cursor hides after 5 seconds without movement
  • Windowed mode opens centred and smaller on small or high-DPI screens
  • Optional render resolution in the window title
  • Linux: starting without a graphical session now fails with a clear message instead of crashing

Graphics and text fixes

  • Fixed message bubbles, dialogs and other dynamic text that showed as garbled or corrupted at the 1440p, 1800p and 4K render resolutions. In those modes the game switches to the PS4 Pro memory layout for its textures, and the port was reading the text textures with the base PS4 layout. 1080p and lower resolutions were not affected.
  • This is separate from the font fallback and text-entry fixes of v0.4.0 (the built-in Noto Sans font and the IME fix), which are unchanged.

Cheats

  • Experience Multiplier: Off, 2x, 5x or 10x, on the launcher's Cheats page and as the last row of the F10 menu. It multiplies the experience each award gives, and the result screen shows the multiplied amount. It applies to every local player, not only Player 1. Off (the default) leaves the game unchanged.
  • Infinite Arrows now sets the Elf's arrows to 10 right away when turned on and keeps them at 10; a pickup no longer leaves you above 10. Turning it off leaves the arrows as they are.
  • As before, values on the launcher page are used at every start, and the F10 menu changes the current session only.

Window and display improvements

  • Windowed start-up: the game window opens centred on the chosen monitor and, when your Window size would not fit, is made smaller (same shape) so the whole window stays within 80% of the monitor's usable area. Your saved Window size is not changed, and you can still resize the window freely.
  • Mouse cursor in Borderless Fullscreen hides after 5 seconds without movement and returns when you move the mouse, switch away from the game or leave fullscreen.
  • Render resolution in title (launcher, Gameplay page): shows the game's render resolution in the window title, for example Dragon's Crown Pro | 1920x1080. It combines with Frame rate in title. Off by default.

Linux and Steam Deck

  • The Linux AppImage is still experimental, but it has now been reported working by community testers on Bazzite (KDE Plasma, Wayland, AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT with RADV, 4K borderless fullscreen) and on a Steam Deck LCD (issue #5). Two reports do not make a compatibility list: please keep reporting what works and what does not.
  • If no graphical session is available (neither DISPLAY nor WAYLAND_DISPLAY is set), the game now prints a clear error and exits instead of crashing. This is separate from the Vulkan surface crash fix of v0.3.0, which is unchanged.

Other fixes and improvements

  • Documentation updated for the new cheat, window and Linux behaviour.
  • Added automated tests for the tiling layouts, the cursor timer and the window sizing.

Known limitations

  • Online multiplayer is not implemented.
  • Cheats apply to Player 1, except Infinite Gold (one amount for the whole save) and the Experience Multiplier (every local player).
  • Movement Speed 2x speeds up ordinary ground movement only.
  • The fallback font covers Latin, Greek and Cyrillic text. Korean, Chinese and some symbol characters may not display.
  • The Linux / Steam Deck AppImage is still experimental and has been tested on very little hardware so far.
  • Only the PS4 package with Title ID CUSA10454, version 01.03 is supported.

Dragon's Crown Pro PC Port v0.4.0

Choose a tag to compare

@saulob saulob released this 16 Oct 15:23

Dragon's Crown Pro PC Port v0.4.0

Local multiplayer for up to four players, Xbox button prompts, a Cheats page with an in-game cheat menu, and fixes for text-entry crashes and unreadable message text. This is an unofficial fan-made port, not affiliated with or endorsed by Vanillaware, Atlus, SEGA, Sony Interactive Entertainment or any other rights holder.

No game files are included. You need your own legally obtained Dragon's Crown Pro PS4 package.

Highlights

  • Local multiplayer for up to 4 players, one controller each
  • PlayStation / Xbox controller prompts, chosen on the launcher's Controls page
  • New Cheats page and F10 in-game cheat menu
  • Fixed text-entry crashes
  • Built-in fallback for the missing PS4 system font, which fixes unreadable (red) message text

Local multiplayer

  • Up to four local players: P1, P2, P3 and P4, one controller each.
  • Player 1 is the first controller found, and the keyboard is always Player 1's. Each controller you connect takes the lowest free player slot.
  • A player stays logged in when their controller is unplugged, so a reconnected controller takes the lowest free slot, which is not necessarily the same player.
  • Online play is not supported.

Controller prompts

  • The launcher's Controls page has a new Controller prompts setting: PlayStation (original) or Xbox.
  • Xbox changes the button pictures the game shows to A / B / X / Y, LB / RB, LT / RT, MENU and VIEW.
  • The choice is made in the port's own installed copy of the game and takes a few seconds. It is reversible: choosing PlayStation (original) restores the original files. While Xbox is selected the installed game uses about 100 MB more disk space. Your .pkg file is never changed, and the choice is kept when you reinstall the game.
  • Special thanks to @kris-c-anderson for contributing the PlayStation / Xbox Controller Prompts feature in PR #4.

Cheats

  • The launcher has a new Cheats page. Press F10 while playing to open the in-game Cheats menu.
  • Cheats, on the launcher page and in the F10 menu: Infinite Health, Infinite Mana, Infinite Lives, Infinite Durability, Infinite Arrows, Infinite Skill Points, Infinite Gold and Movement Speed 2x. All are Off by default.
  • F10 menu only: Add 1,000 Gold.
  • Values set on the launcher page are saved and used at every start. Changes made in the F10 menu apply to the current session only.
  • Cheats are meant for offline and local play. They are not switched off automatically in an online session.

Fixes and improvements

  • Fixed text-entry screens (character names and messages) that could crash the game, by implementing a missing IME function those screens need.
  • Added a built-in Noto Sans fallback for when the original PS4 system font is not available. No PS4 system fonts or Sony firmware files are needed, and none are included. This fixes message and name text that showed as an unreadable red bar.
  • Improved safety and rollback handling when switching controller prompt packs: a failed switch puts the game files back as they were, an interrupted one is detected and redone, and the game folder you installed from is never modified.

Known limitations

  • Online multiplayer is not implemented.
  • Cheats apply to Player 1. Infinite Gold is the exception: gold is one amount for the whole save, so it applies to every player while it is on.
  • Movement Speed 2x speeds up ordinary ground movement only.
  • The fallback font covers Latin, Greek and Cyrillic text. Korean, Chinese and some symbol characters may not display.
  • The Linux / Steam Deck AppImage is still experimental. It has not been tested on real Linux or Steam Deck hardware.

Dragon's Crown Pro PC Port v0.3.0

Choose a tag to compare

@saulob saulob released this 16 Oct 02:47

Dragon's Crown Pro PC Port v0.3.0

A bug-fix and usability release. It fixes the crash right after pressing PLAY that affected v0.2.0, and adds a choice of language for the game's menus and subtitles. The PS4 game's own code runs on the PC with a replacement for the PS4 system libraries and a Vulkan renderer derived from shadPS4, with the TRG launcher and modern PC display and graphics options. This is an unofficial fan-made port, not affiliated with or endorsed by Vanillaware, Atlus, SEGA, Sony Interactive Entertainment or any other rights holder.

No game files are included. You need your own legally obtained Dragon's Crown Pro PS4 package.

What's new

  • Fixed the crash immediately after pressing PLAY that affected v0.2.0 on Windows and Linux (#5, #6). The game closed while it was setting up its window, before the title screen.
  • Fixed Vulkan platform surface initialization, the cause of that crash: the Windows, X11 and Wayland surface functions are now loaded explicitly when the graphics system starts. Thanks to @oliver-vini for finding and fixing it in #7.
  • Menu & Subtitles language selection on the launcher's Gameplay page: English, French, German, Italian or Spanish for the game's menus and subtitle text (#8, and the French request in #6). English is the default. Character voices are still chosen inside the game.
  • Linux / AppImage: the launcher opens before the graphics check. The launcher no longer needs a working Vulkan driver just to open, so you can install the game and change settings first.
  • Vulkan problems are shown when PLAY is pressed, in the launcher's own dialog, which explains what is missing. The launcher stays open, so you can install or update a driver and press PLAY again.

  3. On a Steam Deck, do this in Desktop Mode. If you like, add the AppImage with Games > Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library to start it from Gaming Mode, which is still experimental.

Upgrading from v0.2.0: put the new program in the same folder, or move your game and user folders next to it. Your installed game, settings and saves are kept. An AppImage needs FUSE 2; without it, run it with --appimage-extract-and-run.

Requirements

  • Windows: Windows 10 (version 1903 or newer) or Windows 11, 64-bit
  • Linux (experimental): 64-bit Linux on x86-64 or a Steam Deck, on an X11 or Wayland desktop, with glibc 2.31 or newer. Other distributions that are new enough may work, but this is not guaranteed.
  • A graphics card and driver with Vulkan 1.3, VK_EXT_robustness2, VK_KHR_push_descriptor and VK_EXT_vertex_attribute_divisor. On Linux the Vulkan loader (libvulkan.so.1) must also support Vulkan 1.3.
  • About 6 GB of free disk space for the installed game
  • Your own decrypted PS4 package of this exact game version. Any other version is refused:

A package still encrypted for a PS4 console cannot be unpacked on a PC.

Notes

  • Linux and Steam Deck support is still experimental. It has been tested automatically under WSL2 with a software Vulkan driver, but not broadly on real Linux PCs or Steam Deck hardware. Reports from real hardware are welcome.
  • Menu & Subtitles changes the game's text only. Voices follow each character's own voice setting in the game.
  • Vulkan 1.3 is required on every platform.
  • The game runs at its own 60 frames per second.
  • One player: local multiplayer and online play are not supported.
  • The Windows release is not digitally signed, so Windows SmartScreen may warn on first run: choose More info, then Run anyway.

Reporting problems

If the game does not start or crashes, please open an issue and attach the newest dragons_crown_pro_*.log file from the logs folder next to the program, with a line about what you were doing. Dragon's Crown Pro PC Port v0.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@saulob saulob released this 15 Oct 20:59

Dragon's Crown Pro PC Port v0.2.0

The first release with experimental native Linux and Steam Deck support, alongside the Windows port.

What's new

  • Experimental native Linux build, distributed as an AppImage (DragonsCrownProPC-v0.2.0-x86_64.AppImage). It is a native build with no Proton or Wine, with the same launcher, installer, display and graphics options, controls and in-game menu as Windows.
  • Experimental Steam Deck support: install the game once from Desktop Mode, add the AppImage as a Non-Steam game and start it from Gaming Mode.
  • Built on Ubuntu 20.04 for compatibility with older Linux distributions. glibc 2.31 or newer is the supported baseline.
  • Vulkan 1.3 is required. If the system's Vulkan loader or graphics driver cannot provide it, the program now shows an error window instead of closing without a word.
  • The AppImage uses the application name Dragon's Crown Pro PC and a normal desktop entry, with a Show launcher action, ready for Linux app catalogs.
  • The launcher's file chooser works with the mouse, keyboard and controller, so a package can be selected on a Steam Deck without a desktop file dialog.
  • The Windows release is the same port as v0.1.0, packaged as before.

  3. On a Steam Deck, do this in Desktop Mode, then add the AppImage with Games > Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library and start it from Gaming Mode.

The package is unpacked on your PC into the game folder next to the program (about 6 GB). Reinstall game... repairs the game files and keeps your settings and saves. On Linux, game, user and logs are kept next to the AppImage file.

Notes

  • Linux and Steam Deck support is experimental. It has been tested automatically on Ubuntu 24.04 under WSL2 with a software Vulkan driver, but not broadly on real Linux PCs or Steam Deck hardware. Graphics drivers (AMD, NVIDIA, Intel), audio, controllers, performance, the Steam Deck's Gaming Mode and longer sessions still need testing. Reports from real hardware are welcome.

For Linux or Steam Deck, please also give your distribution, graphics card and driver, and on a Steam Deck whether you were in Desktop Mode or Gaming Mode.

Dragon's Crown Pro PC Port v0.1.0

First public release of the native Windows PC port of Dragon's Crown Pro.

Highlights

  • Native Windows x64 port: the game's own x86-64 code runs directly on the PC. It is not an emulator.
  • Installs the game directly from your own PS4 .pkg in the launcher, with no Python or other tools needed. The package is checked before anything is unpacked, and the game code after; a failed or cancelled install leaves the previous one as it was.
  • TRG launcher with Play, Display, Graphics, Gameplay, Controls and About pages
  • Windowed or Borderless Fullscreen (F11 switches while playing), window size, monitor, graphics card (Automatic or a specific card) and VSync
  • Render resolution from 480p to 4K (3840×2160), with the game's native 1080p as the default
  • SMAA anti-aliasing and anisotropic texture filtering up to 16x
  • AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 1 upscaling and RCAS sharpening with a strength setting
  • Frame rate in the window title, and an optional in-game frame rate and frame time counter
  • In-game settings menu: Insert, or R3 + L2 on a controller
  • Xbox controllers without setup, and keyboard play
  • Portable user and logs folders next to the program for settings, saves, the shader cache and logs

  3. Wait for Ready to play, then press PLAY.

The package is unpacked on your PC into the game folder next to the program (about 6 GB). Reinstall game... repairs the game files and keeps your settings and saves.
