Koala Link 1.4.6 — Automatic controller mapping setup
Automatic controller setup
One installer includes Koala Link 1.4.6 (build 18), the accepted MPC Touch touchscreen driver, and the built-in MIDI profiles for MPC Touch and Push 2 preview.
- Choose your controller in Koala Link. Standard pads, transport and mapped controls do not need manual MIDI Learn.
- On a new Koala installation, Koala Link opens Koala to create its own preferences, closes it normally, prepares the selected profile, and reopens it. Complete any native welcome/permission dialogs if prompted.
- A missing MIDI map is created automatically, including on an installation with a previous profile receipt.
- Existing settings/maps are backed up before changes. Unrelated preferences are retained. Song-specific custom maps can override global assignments; see the mapping guide.
- Accepted pad/Chopper note routing and the signed touchscreen driver are unchanged. Push retains separate sample and keyboard channels.
Requirements
Apple silicon Mac, macOS 13 or later, and Koala Sampler for Mac (sold/installed separately). MPC Touch additionally needs DisplayLink Manager and Accessibility approval. Push 2 remains a preview; full hardware validation is pending.
The app and installer are not notarized. macOS may require Open Anyway in Privacy & Security.
Build status
The app was compiled and packaged. Payload inspection confirms app 1.4.6/build 18 and the unchanged driver in both payload locations. This release has not been installed or run on a fresh Mac or physically validated on both controllers. The publisher confirmed version 1.4.5 on MPC Touch before this setup update.

Koala Link 1.4.5 — MPC Touch + Push 2 preview
Koala Link connects Koala Sampler for Mac to MPC Touch, with an optional Push 2 preview in the same installer.
Download Koala-Link-Installer.pkg, run it, then open Koala Link and choose MPC Touch. The package includes the app, touchscreen driver and support helpers. Email signup is optional.
MPC Touch
- Four pad banks, FULL LEVEL, 16 LEVELS Chopper mode, transport and Q-Link controls.
- Touchscreen holds, drag-to-trash, and two-finger zoom in the sample editor and piano roll.
- The accepted touch driver and tuned pinch setting are included.
This is app 1.4.5, build 17, the exact app bundle confirmed working on the publisher's MPC Touch setup on October 20, 2026. Package inspection matched all 11 app files against that installed app. It replaces 1.3.0 as the current main download.
Requirements
- Apple silicon Mac running macOS 13 or later.
- Koala Sampler for Mac, sold separately.
- For MPC Touch: DisplayLink Manager, plus Accessibility permission for Koala Link and mpc_touchd.
- The app and installer are not notarized; macOS may require Open Anyway in Privacy & Security.
Push 2 preview
The same installer also offers Push 2 at launch. Its sample, piano-roll, sequence, effects and mixer views remain preview features; complete physical control validation is ongoing. See the Push 2 controls.

Koala Link is free, independent software by SAV LAB / Savilion. Koala Sampler, Akai and Ableton are separate products and brands.
Koala Link 1.4.5 — Push 2 preview
Koala Link 1.4.5 — Push 2 preview
App version 1.4.5, build 17. Choose MPC Touch or Push 2 at launch.
Koala Link remains free to download and use.
Changes since the first Push preview
- Cached, preloaded waveforms and sequential audio decoding make saved-sample switching faster. New display frames send as soon as the previous USB transfer finishes.
- Normal sample-pad presses select the editing pad and waveform immediately. Sample notes use channel 16; keyboard/Chopper notes use channel 13 to keep their source separate. MPC Touch retains its accepted profile.
- Push START/LENGTH encoders, touch strip and CC macros redraw waveform markers and the trim highlight immediately. Fresh Koala saves reconcile the result.
- Tempo, bars, Duplicate, Clear Sequence, piano-roll layout and recording notes update as local previews. Incoming Koala MIDI clock is preferred; fallback timing is labeled LOCAL. The configured count-in delays local note capture.
- EQ, Mixer and FX values keep newer commands through older saved snapshots. SHIFT + SESSION toggles FX HOLD.
- Delete a sample: leave NOTE mode, hold exactly one loaded sample pad, then press DELETE. Confirm in Koala if prompted. Repeat stops retriggering that pad while its original note-off is retained. UNDO sends Koala's undo command; SHIFT + UNDO sends Redo.
Preview status
The production app and installer built successfully, this exact package was installed locally, and runtime/visual inspection confirmed the connected Push display and cached waveforms. New recording/delete gestures and complete hardware coverage still need physical feedback. No automated tests were run.
The Push view combines local command previews, optional MIDI clock and Koala's saved files. Native Mac-window edits and newly recorded/imported audio still depend on Koala saving. This release does not provide a complete live mirror of Koala or its undo history. Existing Chopper note mapping and the accepted MPC touchscreen driver are preserved.
Install
Download Koala-Link-Installer.pkg, run it, open Koala Link and choose your controller. Requires an Apple silicon Mac, macOS 13 or later, and Koala Sampler for Mac. For Push 2, connect USB/power and close Ableton Live/Paper Cut while Koala Link owns the display. For MPC Touch, retain DisplayLink and Accessibility permissions.
The package is ad-hoc signed and not notarized. MPC Touch stable v1.3.0 remains available separately.

Koala Link 1.4.0 — Push 2 preview
Koala Link — MPC Touch / Push 2 choice
Open Koala Link and choose MPC Touch or Push 2. The menu lets you switch controllers later.
Push 2 preview
- Koala-style 960×160 screens: saved sample waveform/chop markers, sequence/piano notes, Perform effects, EQ and mixer.
- All 64 pads as four Koala bank quadrants. NOTE toggles keyboard/Chopper mode for the pad selected in Koala.
- Roles for every physical button, all 11 encoders and their touch sensors, pad pressure and touch strip.
- Accent = FULL LEVEL; Repeat = held-pad 1/16 retriggering; Automate = a local control-movement macro.
- The touch strip controls effects and continuous sample/EQ/mixer/swing parameters. It keeps its last value on release, and its prior configuration is restored on exit.
- Chopper notes 60–123 retain the verified first-64 mapping and odd-count wrapping. Page two uses count-aware MIDI notes for the remaining slices.
Install when you get home
- Save and quit Koala and quit the current Koala Link.
- Run Koala-Link-Installer.pkg. Open Koala Link from Applications.
- Power the Push 2, connect USB, close Ableton Live/Paper Cut, then choose Push 2.
- Select the source sample in Koala; use NOTE for its chromatic keys or chops. Use the display rows for the labelled actions.
The package targets Apple silicon, macOS 13+. Install Koala Sampler separately. DisplayLink and touchscreen Accessibility permissions are needed only for MPC Touch.
Validation status
App version 1.4.0, build 8. App and installer builds succeeded; display artwork was rendered and visually reviewed offline. No physical Push was available. Physical controls, display orientation, LED appearance, clock/repeat timing and second-page chop overflow behavior still need hardware validation.
The view uses saved song/audio snapshots, local commanded state and MIDI clock when available. It is not a mirror of Koala's live UI/audio. Choose pads and create/edit chops in Koala itself. The native Koala color reference is approximated by pink #FF2863, cyan #00CBEA, charcoal #2D2727; exact active-theme and physical LED/display matching remain unverified.
The accepted MPC MIDI bridge/overlay and signed touchscreen driver are unchanged. v1.3.0 remains the stable MPC Touch release and GitHub Latest. This package has ad-hoc signing and is not notarized.
Koala Link 1.3.0
Koala Link 1.3.0
Koala Touch is now Koala Link, the project for Koala Sampler controller support. MPC Touch support is available now; Ableton Push 2 support is planned.
This release
- Renames the app, installer, and public repository to Koala Link.
- Upgrades the existing Koala Touch installation while retaining its settings, MIDI profile, and shared MPC touchscreen service. The previous app is saved outside Applications.
- Includes the working FULL LEVEL control: its light follows the toggle, pad strikes send velocity 127 when enabled, and natural velocity returns when disabled. The state applies across sample and Chopper banks and survives an MPC reconnect.
- Preserves the accepted Chopper mapping, keyboard synchronization, overlay, responsive touch, drag-to-trash, and pinch zoom. The touch-driver binary is unchanged.
- Adds the Push 2 protocol references and adaptation plan, recording Koala's Chopper behavior, odd-count wrapping, note limits, held-note handling, and feedback requirements.
Install
Download Koala-Link-Installer.pkg and run it, then open Koala Link from Applications. Existing users may need to refresh the app's Accessibility entry after the update; mpc_touchd keeps its existing identity.
Requires an Apple silicon Mac with macOS 13 or later, Koala Sampler for Mac, an MPC Touch, and DisplayLink Manager. The app and installer use ad-hoc signing and are not notarized.
Push 2 is not supported by this installer yet. The research and adaptation plan describes the next phase.
Koala Touch 1.2 — Chopper mapping fix
MIDI mapping and Chopper corrections
- Correct the Chopper starting note to MIDI 60 (Koala's C3), so bank A pad 1 plays chop 1. Banks A–D send notes 60–123 on channel 16 for chops 1–64. The previous lower starting note rotated the chops when the slice count changed.
- Start Chopper keyboard mode at bank A and restore the previous sample bank when leaving it.
- Match the keyboard mode in Koala's restored song before launch and follow the native Sequence keyboard button.
- Repair duplicate or raw-port MIDI Learn assignments to the automatic controller mappings, with backups.
- Release held function buttons when routing stops, alongside held pads and Q-Link contacts.
- Use Public only for 16 LEVELS so delayed Private copies cannot toggle the keyboard twice.
- Update native keyboard-button state once per completed click and log the source of keyboard mode changes.
- Document the physical pad IDs, bank ranges, Q-Link assignments and protocol limits.
The touchscreen driver binary is unchanged. This update does not rebuild or re-sign it.
Install
Save and quit Koala, run Koala-Touch-Installer.pkg, then reopen Koala Touch. If macOS requests it after the app update, re-enable Koala Touch in Accessibility.
The first-chop starting note was confirmed on the MPC Touch with a 128-chop sample. The four MPC banks provide the first 64 chops; Koala wraps across the available slices when there are fewer. Choosing 128 chops does not add hardware banks to this profile.
Koala Touch 1.1 — 64-note Chopper mode
Koala Touch 1.1
Free Koala Touch installer for Apple silicon Macs running macOS 13 or later.
Install Koala Sampler and DisplayLink Manager separately.
16 Levels for Chopper
Press the MPC's 16 LEVELS button to toggle Chopper keyboard mode. Pads send
64 chromatic notes starting at C−1 (MIDI note 0) on channel 16:
- Bank A: notes 0–15
- Bank B: notes 16–31
- Bank C: notes 32–47
- Bank D: notes 48–63
Notes increase left to right, from the bottom physical row to the top.
Changing banks keeps Koala on the selected sample. Held notes retain their
assignment until release. Press 16 LEVELS again for normal sample-pad
mapping (notes 36–99). Use the physical button to keep both modes together.
Included
- Responsive touchscreen driver with steady holds and drag-to-trash.
- Two-finger zoom for sample waveforms and the piano roll, with pinch gain 500.
- Koala Touch app, driver tools, installer and uninstall scripts.
- Alicja Hand font, included with publisher-confirmed redistribution permission.
Download Koala-Touch-Installer.pkg below. The app and installer use ad-hoc
signing and are not notarized. Allow Koala Touch and mpc_touchd in macOS
Accessibility when prompted. Existing users may need to re-enable Koala Touch
after replacing the app; the touchscreen driver binary is unchanged.
The app and installer were built successfully. The new Chopper mapping has not
yet been confirmed by playing the physical MPC pads in Koala.
Koala Touch 1.0
