Foundry Paste Eater 1.4.0
Highlights
- Add audio paste and upload support for Foundry audio formats, including chat audio cards,
Audio card + play once now, canvas AmbientSound creation, PlaylistSound add/update flows, focused audio document fields, and direct audio URL fallbacks. - Replace the old fire-and-forget chat message sound path with card-based
play once nowplayback so the visible chat audio controls own the playback instance. - Route organized audio uploads under the
audiocontext and include AmbientSound, PlaylistSound, and chat audio-card references in Uploaded Media Audit reporting.
Fixes
- Fix Firefox upload-picker timing so real file selections are not misreported as canceled when the browser restores focus before the file input change event arrives.
- Fix duplicate scene upload control callbacks.
- Fix playlist sidebar paste targeting when Foundry dispatches paste events at the page root instead of the clicked playlist row.
- Prevent playlist sidebar fallback from hijacking unrelated body-root audio and video pastes.
Validation
- Ran
npm run verify:releaseagainst a live Foundry V14.359 world before tagging and publishing.
Foundry Paste Eater 1.3.1
Foundry Paste Eater 1.3.1 focuses on verified Foundry V14 compatibility.
Highlights
- Mark the module as verified through Foundry V14.359 after running the full local release gate and Playwright smoke suite against a real V14 world.
- Fix V14 chat fallback insertion so blocked direct-media downloads and other text fallbacks land back in the ProseMirror chat editor correctly, even when another editable control owns the current selection.
- Harden V14 browser coverage and helpers for ProseMirror chat inputs, GM-backed multi-user permission setup, and end-to-end smoke validation.

Foundry Paste Eater 1.3.0
Highlights
- Added GM-only
Readiness & SupportandUploaded Media Auditpanels, plus a sanitized support-bundle export for diagnosing clipboard, storage, permissions, defaults drift, and current media references. - Hardened native Finder/Explorer media handling so under-described pasted files resolve more reliably, chat focus returns cleanly to the canvas, and canvas-bound GIFs are rasterized to reliable PNG uploads while chat GIF behavior stays intact.
- Finished the runtime and test architecture refactor, tightened release verification, and expanded regression coverage across defaults, support flows, Finder-native paste paths, and linked backing-Actor token creation.
GM And Admin Improvements
Readiness & Supportnow summarizes client capability, storage readiness, player upload readiness, and recommended-default drift in one GM-only panel.Uploaded Media Auditnow provides a read-only grouped report of world references under known upload roots, with JSON export.- Added a sanitized support bundle export and read-only runtime support API for collecting readiness, settings, storage, and recent module log data without exposing secrets.
- Improved the support and audit UI layouts, including better section structure, status chips, and scrollable audit tables.
Paste And Workflow Improvements
- Native Finder/Explorer PNG, JPG, and GIF paste handling is now more reliable because the module normalizes MIME type and filename information earlier in the pipeline.
- Pasting into chat no longer traps paste focus; clicking back into the board or scene controls restores canvas targeting as expected.
- Canvas token and tile workflows now rasterize pasted GIFs to PNG for reliable Foundry rendering, while chat pastes keep GIFs animated.
- Newly pasted tokens still create backing Actors by default, and actor-backed pasted tokens now link to their backing Actor by default.
- The selected-token
Askdialog and chat upload button were polished to fit Foundry's UI more cleanly.
Defaults And Recommended Behavior
The shipped defaults for new worlds now align with the current recommended profile:
- minimum roles for canvas media, canvas text, and chat media remain
Player - non-GM scene controls remain enabled
- empty-canvas media follows the active layer
- pasted tokens create backing Actors by default
- canvas text paste defaults to
Scene notes - selected token image paste defaults to
Ask each time - uploads remain organized by
context / user / month
Stability And Release Hardening
- Added stronger shared contracts for defaults and routing scenarios, plus JSDoc typechecking and release-verification scripts.
- Expanded automated coverage for support flows, defaults drift, Finder-native media pastes, GIF rasterization edge cases, and linked backing-Actor token creation.
- Full release verification for this build passed locally: lint, unit tests, typecheck, bundle parity, packaging, and smoke coverage (
92 passed,1 skippedfor the opt-in live S3 smoke).
Compatibility

- Direct package: https://github.com/sayhiben/foundry-paste-eater/releases/download/1.2.0/foundry-paste-eater_1.2.0.zip
Highlights
- Added explicit selected-token image paste modes:
Scene token onlyActor portrait + linked token artAsk each time
- Improved player upload failure guidance so GMs are told exactly where to fix core permissions:
Game Settings -> Configure Permissions- enable
Use File Browser - enable
Upload Files
- Added organized upload-path routing for
canvas, chat, anddocument-artcontexts so S3 and other backends can apply safer lifecycle policies without the module trying to delete uploads itself. - Shipped safer first-run defaults for new worlds:
- non-GM scene controls enabled
- empty-canvas media creates tiles by default
- backing Actors for pasted tokens disabled by default
- canvas text paste disabled by default
- selected-token image paste prompts by default
- upload paths organized by context, user, and month by default
- Added a GM-only
Apply recommended defaultsmenu for existing worlds that want the new default behavior profile without changing upload destinations or client-only diagnostics. - Reworked the README and testing docs around GM expectations, shipped defaults, permissions, storage, and case-by-case paste behavior.
Upgrade Notes
- Existing worlds keep their current saved settings. The new defaults apply automatically only to new installs or unset settings.
- Existing worlds can adopt the new behavior profile from
Game Settings -> Configure Settings -> Foundry Paste Eater -> Apply recommended defaults. - Actor-wide token-art replacement is image-only and updates both
Actor.imgandprototypeToken.texture.src. Video token replacement remains scene-local. - The module still does not delete uploads or manage retention. Storage cleanup remains a GM or backend concern.
Verification
npm test- full Chromium smoke suite:
84 passed,1 skipped(test/playwright/s3.spec.jsis opt-in/live-S3 only) - targeted Firefox coverage for SVG, selected-token replacement, actor-art propagation, and scene prompt flows:
5 passed - live UI pass for the recommended-defaults dialog, upload-destination config, and scene paste prompt
