Both MCP and excelcli expose the same controls, with explicit limits for OLAP and Data Model reports.

  • #1105 2a07f13 Thanks @sbroenne! - External OLAP connections can now list dimensions, hierarchies, levels, and bounded member searches using Excel's existing connection session.

    Member searches page in provider unique-name order over a bounded list of up to 10,000 entries. Larger levels fail explicitly instead of scanning without a limit. Paging tokens keep fixed-size fingerprints of the search settings and member list, so long search text does not produce an unusable token and a changed list cannot silently skip or repeat entries.

  • #1115 13c0371 Thanks @sbroenne! - Fix MCP tool calls from Claude Code in Claude Desktop being rejected. The MCP Server now ignores inputs that do not apply to the chosen action when they are empty or set to their advertised default. Real values sent to the wrong action are still rejected with a message naming the input.

  • #1104 0950171 Thanks @sbroenne! - VBA listing now shows procedure kinds and line ranges, and bounded reads can return one procedure or up to 500 lines at a time. A new guarded procedure replacement action edits only the selected procedure when its source has not changed since it was read.

    Procedure replacement preserves surrounding comments and blank lines. New read-only actions search VBA source with limited results, flag missing library references, and report project access, password protection, and execution mode without changing Excel settings.

Usage telemetry is unchanged.

  • #1112 b2e03e0 Thanks @sbroenne! - Fix adding existing external cube measures to PivotTables, including measure names containing dots or escaped closing brackets. Explain which field changes must be made on the cube server rather than in the workbook Data Model.

    Return actual OLAP field captions and positions, and apply automatic subtotals using hierarchy names. Preserve compound DAX formulas when changing an aggregation instead of silently replacing their calculation.

    Report completed and uncertain hierarchy levels when a subtotal update fails, without claiming that partial changes were rolled back.

  • #1110 5905840 Thanks @sbroenne! - Fix incorrectly cropped range and sheet screenshots on scaled Windows displays, without changing the application's display settings. Canceled captures remain reported as canceled even if restoring display settings also fails, with both errors retained.

  • #1113 55aecaa Thanks @sbroenne! - Both the CLI and MCP Server now support turning telemetry off or viewing approved operation telemetry in a local OpenTelemetry dashboard without Azure access. Contributor builds remain off by default, and released packages keep their existing Azure destination unless explicitly overridden.

  • #1112 b2e03e0 Thanks @sbroenne! - Calculated-member creation no longer diagnoses generic Excel or provider failures as formula syntax errors. Errors preserve the underlying Excel exception and direct callers to inspect calculated members before retrying; unknown member types are rejected before changing the workbook.

    Calculated-member guidance preserves qualified measure names and no longer suggests adding members or sets to Values. PivotChart creation failures retain the created chart, its identity, and the underlying failure instead of deleting it or claiming rollback; PivotChart title reads release the acquired title reference.

    OLAP Show Values As readback mismatches now report verification failure rather than claiming Excel ignored the write. Recovery guidance warns that displayed values may already have changed and directs callers to inspect the data; no automatic rollback is performed.

  • #1103 5f8521c Thanks @sbroenne! - MCP calls now check action-specific required inputs consistently before execution and report incompatible parameters using the tool's advertised names. Tool contract checks cover generated and specialized tools to prevent definitions from drifting from the running server.

@latest is resolved when launching, subject to normal npm caching. It does not
replace a running server or CLI service. Finish and explicitly save/close
workbook sessions before restarting to use an updated runtime.
