This is the last major change to my SFC. It's good for several years, well after SolidFire's planned End of Support.
There may be minor bugs in it, but I get no feedback anyway so there's no reason to delay release.
Improvements
- Collector: minor bug fixes and logging improvements
- Collector: update dependencies
- Database: back-end upgraded from InfluxDB v1 to InfluxDB 3 Core with default tiering to S3
- Other stack (Docker Compose) updates:
- S3: Versity S3 Gateway (for InfluxDB tiering to S3; enabled by default)
- Grafana with no built-in dashboards, but SQL and InfluxQL examples are given in documentation
- InfluxDB Explorer: new and recommended approach to querying, visualization, DB management, AI, and more
- Utilities container for optional CLI access to S3 and InfluxDB
Known issues
- No down-sampling policy exists, but SFC 2 uses space very sparingly, InfluxDB 3 comes with down-sampling plugins which can be deployed and used from InfluxDB Explorer (included) and there's tiering to S3 (also included). Create a Github issue if you need help with down-sampling/retention management.
