Beam v1.0.0 — Privacy-First Web Analytics

Beam is a cookie-free, GDPR-friendly web analytics script that runs on the Cloudflare edge. No consent banners. No fingerprinting. No personal data stored.

What's in this release

  • Sub-2KB tracking script (543 bytes gzipped) — the smallest footprint in privacy analytics
  • Cookie-free unique visitor counting via daily field hashing (SHA-256 of date + path + country + browser + screen width — resets at UTC midnight)
  • Custom event tracking — window.beam.track(event_name, { properties }) with JSON property support
  • UTM parameter capture — automatic utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign passthrough
  • Zero npm dependencies in the tracking script
  • Framework-agnostic — works with plain HTML, React, Next.js, Vue, Svelte, WordPress, and any static site generator

The Privacy Architecture

Instead of cookies, Beam generates a daily hash:

SHA-256(UTC_date + page_path + country + browser_family + screen_width)

The hash resets at UTC midnight, making cross-session tracking impossible. The individual fields are not personal data. No consent banner required under GDPR/CCPA.

What Beam never collects

  • Cookies or localStorage
  • IP addresses
  • Persistent user identifiers
  • Cross-site behavior
  • Any fingerprinting data
