Blender 5.3 Alpha Y-Up + OpenMoonRay Hydra Delegate (Windows x64)
Blender 5.3 Alpha Y-Up + OpenMoonRay Hydra Delegate (Windows x64)
Welcome to the Blender 5.3 Alpha Y-Up release for Windows x64 with full OpenMoonRay Hydra Render Delegate and OptiX GPU Cycles integration!
What is New & Included
1. Y-Up Viewport & Coordinate System
- Native Y-Up Orientation: Blender viewport, navigation, camera controls, and transforms natively treat Y as Up and Z as Forward, seamlessly matching game engines (Unreal, Unity) and industrial OpenUSD workflows (NVIDIA Omniverse).
2. USD Importer 'Load Y-Up' Feature
- One-Click Y-Up USD Import: New 'Load Y-Up' checkbox in the USD Importer operator presets and general panel.
- Hierarchical Transform Safety: Correctly imports complex multi-object hierarchies (e.g. 900+ part automotive assets) without geometry explosion or sheared parent-child relationships. Automatically handles both Z-up and native Y-up stage assets.
3. Integrated DreamWorks OpenMoonRay Hydra Render Delegate
- Production Path Tracing in Blender: Full Hydra MoonRay viewport and final (F12) rendering inside Blender.
- OptiX GPU & OIDN Denoising: Hardware-accelerated denoising with high-fidelity production materials, RDL2 shading nodes, and ISPC multithreading.
- USD Animation & Mesh Fixes: Resolved memory deallocation crashes and fixed skeletal/subset animation rendering on models such as animated USDZ assets.
- Pre-installed Addon: hydra_moonray is pre-configured and ready to use in the Blender bundle.
