SDK 2.4.0 release candidate 1, a pre-release for testing. It is built by the release-candidate workflow from main at 48d7055 (run 39579241219), and every file carries a GitHub artifact attestation. It is not the signed sdk-v2.4.0 release: that follows once the remaining go gates pass. Plugin ABI 1.1 is unchanged; plugins built for 2.3.0 keep loading.

What 2.4.0 adds

  • A stability promise. Every service is labelled Stable or Experimental (stability). Stable tables only grow; an Experimental table can later be replaced by a new major version, and the old one stays available for at least one further minor release.
  • Host and UI services: sco.widgets 1.2 (stable node tags), sco.storage 1.1 (schema introspection), sco.diagnostics.publisher 1.0, DataCore packs with best-effort receipts and deep cloning.
  • Game pack 0.8.0 on verified build 4.10.197.2878:
    • game.loadout 1.2: asynchronous equip.
    • game.inventory 1.1 and game.inventory.contents 1.0.
    • game.actor_stats 1.1 (29 reads) and game.actor_stats_write 1.0.
    • game.input 1.0: 1,297 actions, ids re-derived from the build.
    • game.gamerules 1.1 (15 parameters), game.build 1.0, game.entities 1.2, game.world.control 1.1.
    • game.audio 1.1 play_once.
    • Opt-in native DataCore and CVar reads.
  • Native backends held, fail-closed: filtered single-hit rays, exact class-name entity lookup, value-change GameRules reads and fire-and-forget audio ship as contracts with synthetic providers; natively they answer unavailable.
  • Developer kit:
    • The combined kit bundles the API catalogue and a stdio MCP discovery server.
    • Opt-in MCP tools search the guides and run the plugin checker, build and tests on your own project.
    • The scaffolder generates C, C++, C# and Lua plugins.
    • A plugin design guide comes with a provider/consumer example pair, and a community plugin directory lists plugins that live in their authors' own repositories.

Not yet

  • Nothing new in 2.4.0 has been run in game. Static checks and synthetic tests are not in-game evidence.
  • Still open before the final release: an outsider dry run (zip to a checked plugin, using only the docs and MCP) and an in-game smoke run.
  • The signed approval, sdk-v2.4.0 tag and final publication come after that.
