DS3 VR 1.0.1
DS3 VR 1.0.1: fixes double vision on some PCs.
Fixed
- Double vision or a doubled character on some PCs (reported on Quest 2). geo-11 sets the distance between the two eyes from your monitor's size, so it differs from PC to PC, and the mod used one fixed value that only matched some setups. The mod now reads geo-11's actual value while the game runs and lines both eyes up to it, a few seconds after VR starts.
- geo-11 settings that were changed by hand are reset on every launch (separation 20%, auto convergence off), so edits to
d3dxdm.inican no longer leave the 3D misaligned. World scale in the VR menu is still how you make the world bigger or smaller.
Updating from 1.0.0: extract the new zip into the Game folder and overwrite the old files. You do not need to run install-ds3vr.bat again. Your settings are kept. The old StereoShift line in ds3vr.ini is no longer used and can be left alone.
New install: extract DS3VR-1.0.1.zip into the game's Game folder (the one with DarkSoulsIII.exe), run install-ds3vr.bat, start your VR runtime, then launch Dark Souls III from Steam. Full instructions are in ds3vr\README.txt.
Still seeing double? Post your ds3vr.log (in the Game folder) on Discord. If it says it could not read geo-11's separation, there is a one-line fix we can give you.
Runtimes: thoroughly tested on SteamVR. Virtual Desktop (VDXR), Meta and PimaxXR should work but have not been fully tested yet; reports are welcome.
DS3 VR 1.0.0
DS3 VR 1.0: native-stereo VR for Dark Souls III, built on Helifax's geo-11 fix.
Install
- Download
DS3VR-1.0.0.zipbelow and extract all of it into the game'sGamefolder (the one withDarkSoulsIII.exe). - Run
install-ds3vr.bat. It downloads Helifax's geo-11 fix from its official host (it asks first and checks it is the right package), backs up every file it changes, switches geo-11 to VR output and sets the game's graphics options for VR. - Start your VR runtime, then launch Dark Souls III from Steam.
The install step exists only because geo-11 and Helifax's fix cannot be included in this download. Full instructions are in ds3vr\README.txt. To remove the mod, run uninstall-ds3vr.bat.
New in 1.0
- No separate download: the install step fetches Helifax's fix for you. If that ever fails, it explains how to get it by hand.
- Horizon lock (VR menu, off by default): when on, the right stick no longer tilts the view up or down; only your head does.
Updating from 0.10.0: extract the new zip over the old one and run install-ds3vr.bat again. Your settings are kept.
Runtimes: thoroughly tested on SteamVR. Virtual Desktop (VDXR), Meta and PimaxXR should work but have not been fully tested yet; reports are welcome.
DS3 VR 0.10.0
First drop-in release of DS3 VR: native-stereo VR for Dark Souls III on top of Helifax's geo-11 fix.
Install
- Download
Dark_Souls_3_geo11_fix.7zfrom Helifax's fix page and put it in the game'sGamefolder (the one withDarkSoulsIII.exe). No need to extract it. - Download
DS3VR-0.10.0.zipbelow and extract all of it into the sameGamefolder. - Run
install-ds3vr.bat. This step exists only because geo-11 and Helifax's fix cannot be included in this download: it unpacks Helifax's fix, backs up every file it changes, switches geo-11 to VR output and sets the game's graphics options for VR. - Start your VR runtime, then launch Dark Souls III from Steam.
Full instructions are in ds3vr\README.txt in the zip. To remove it, run uninstall-ds3vr.bat.
In this version
- Drop-in install: extract into the Game folder and run
install-ds3vr.bat(replaces the old setup .exe) - Until the install step has run, the mod stays off and says what to do
- Resolution readout in the VR menu: what the game renders now, what your VR runtime asks for, and what the next launch will use
- Works with any OpenXR runtime (SteamVR, Virtual Desktop VDXR, Meta, PimaxXR), including runtimes chosen per launch and headsets with angled displays
- Fixed: occasional crash or scrambled view on the first launch of a session
- Steadier view when turning your head (pose lag 2, head movement follows world scale)
