PAMAP v1.2.0 - Enhanced Retry Policy for Robust Monitoring

Choose a tag to compare

@seancrites seancrites released this 30 Jun 05:21

PAMAP v1.2.0 enhances network host monitoring by adding a retry policy to reduce false alerts due to transient network issues. Key updates include:

  • Retry Policy: Added -r <attempts,timeout> option to require multiple ping failures (default: 5) and a timeout period (default: 10s) before declaring a host unreachable. Timeout supports time units: s (seconds), m (minutes), h (hours), d (days), w (weeks), M (months), y (years), D (decades), C (centuries), Y (millennia), f (fortnights).
  • Interactive Retry Updates: New r command to update retry settings at runtime.
  • Custom Check Intervals: Retained -i <interval> and i command from v1.1.0 for flexible ping intervals with the same time units.
  • Documentation: Updated README.md and CHANGELOG.md with detailed usage examples and version 1.2.0 details.

This release strengthens PAMAP’s reliability for lightweight, single-host monitoring without complex NMS setups. See CHANGELOG.md for full details.

@seancrites seancrites released this 22 Jun 22:52

PAMAP v1.1.0 introduces user-defined check intervals for monitoring network host reachability, enhancing flexibility for system administrators. Key updates include:

  • Custom Check Intervals: Added -i <interval> option to set ping intervals, supporting time units: seconds (s), minutes (m), hours (h), days (d), weeks (w), months (M, ~30 days), years (y, ~365 days), decades (D), centuries (C), millennia (Y), and fortnights (f, 2 weeks). Defaults to 1 second.
  • Interactive Updates: New i command allows runtime interval changes with the same time units.
  • Documentation: Updated README.md with detailed usage examples and time unit documentation.

This release is ideal for lightweight, single-host monitoring without complex NMS setups. See CHANGELOG.md for full details.
